I predict with the diversity of 25 experiential success stories, I'll be more equipped, than now, to take on remote teaching AS WELL AS how to transition that success into a populated classroom.

2. I want to find out other ways to manage the situation- on class, out of class, or both. I'm looking for tangibles. The resources from E. Aquilar and J. Hattie support well my own philosophy. My students and I didn't just "endure" we were resilient! we were successful. We are all in a better place with more skills than ever before. 24 different POV may well yield a plethora of tools for far greater resiliency

How do you predict this course might be valuable to you?

I hope that I will learn more ways to help students engage in an online platform so that I will have more "tools" in my "belt" should we have to go to remote learning again in the coming year. I also hope to connect and collaborate with other educators and build my PLN.

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?

There are several ideas from the reading assignments that resonate with me. For example:

"Fostering student self-regulation is crucial for moving learning to deep and transfer levels."

I am currently teaching in a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool program that utilizes an open flow process to student work in our classroom. I am curious about how I could take those principles and apply them to an online learning environment that still helps students develop self-regulating and transfer skills.

"Learning accelerates when the student, not the teacher, is taught to be in control of learning."

This idea also fits in really well with my current work with students. I hope to discover ways to help parents facilitate this kind of learning when students are required to "learn at home".

"Visible Learning"

Lastly - "making student learning visible" is one of the pillars of a Reggio Emilia inspired program, but when I had to switch to online teaching and connecting with students, I had to swing back to much more traditional methods of instruction and assessment. I would like to think there could be ways to take the work I do in person and better translate it to an online platform. At least that's what I hope to develop through the work with this cohort and this course.

I predict the value will come from the interactions with colleagues. I have recently taken a few MOOC classes via Coursera and while the content gained was useful the community was zilch. Here we have all NH educators coming from different counties and different school models all ready to share and collaborate to make learning as good as it can be for kids. I don't know exactly where I'll find value but I know that I will.

Coming from a very different kind of school (VLACS has always been an online school) I have a different experience than most. I taught remotely for a district school from March 2020 through the end of the year but then moved to an online school for 2020/2021 that was already set up for remote instructions. My goal is to see where the valuable crossover experiences will lie. Some questions bouncing around in my head: What practices from online school can be successfully implemented in a classroom? How can technology be leveraged in any setting to make learning more accessible, enjoyable, and effective? How can we use what we learned about self-regulated learning and executive functioning skills to better prepare students for online learning as well as career/college?

I am hoping I will become more comfortable teaching online. I will learn about the best tools and best practices. I feel I am at a disadvantage because I do not have an educational institution providing any kind of technical support; nor the colleagues with whom I can collaborate. So, I really look forward to learning from conversations on Slack (new to me) and on this Padlet (also a new tool for the toolbox!). The learning has already begun. I am also hoping to see online learning in a more positive light. I am afraid I am one of those educators who was tuned into the "doom and gloom reports," that John Hattie wrote about. My career has been spent working with discouraged, disadvantaged and sometimes delinquent students. I am not yet convinced online learning worked for them. I hope you change my mind.

1. I am hoping that I will learn more techniques with connecting with the youngest children and families through virtual learning. Children learn in so many different ways and bringing this into a virtual environement is challenging, but can be done. The youngest children need to get up and move, even on the computer, so I am hopeful that I can learn how to incooperate this more with the auditory and visual learning also. I know that this year quarentine time will happen and I would like to help my staff feel more comfortable with virtual learning and not always see it as a negative thing.
2. My goals are to embrace virtual learning and be confident that young children can thrive. I also want to learn more about communication with families, since the young children do not have the computer skills to do everything on their own. Tools need to be given to parents to be involved with their child and feel apart of our community. I would love to hear about how other teachers were able to connect with the youngest of students and their successes along with what they felt was challenging during last year.

Intentions/Goals: Again, I want to gain confidence and learn new strategies. I am hoping to learn new ideas from fellow educators and share my experiences. My ultimate goal is to learn new practices that I can use to integrate technology in my classroom and be ready should another situation like these past years arise.
