When reading I found out that parents who are non-English speakers have a hard time feeling connected with their children's education because they don't feel connect with their school. I want to be sure the parents in my class are well informed, and feel connected.

1.) I like the incentive of desk pets. It teaches the students responsibility and encourages them to stay on task, keep the classroom steady and quiet, and it is super fun for the kids!

When they are on task or having a great day, they have the chance to earn more accessories for their desk pets. It is a cute idea that I think the students would love! I defiantly want to implement this into my classroom when I am a teacher!

2.) I want to make it known to my students that learning is fun! I know how much the younger kids love stuffed animals, so I think this idea is great! They fill up their chart, and they get rewarded with a stuffed animal party!

This reward allows the kids to bring in their favorite comfort animals from home and have them learn with them for the day. It is a reward for good behavior and allows the students to have a piece of home with them.

3.) I love the idea of an affirmation mirror in the classroom. It is important from a young age that students know their self worth and how beautiful they are. By looking in the mirror and seeing so many positive affirmations is good for their young growing kids.

The mental health crisis is at an all time high. It is important tot instill in the kids that they are capable of anything. They are worthy of great things, and it is important for them to know they can do anything they set their minds to. The affirmation mirror is a great reminder of that.

I chose this because I think behavior issues and punishments is a big issue now in schools, and we need to implement better strategies in our school systems.

It is very insightful to read the real reasons behind why women choose to wear hijabs. I always thought it was a mandatory thing for these women to do. I never knew the real reasons and background as to the importance and proudness of wearing a hijab.

3.) This video shows how media representation is influenced by our every lives and what the media is able to hide from us. By using false headlines, false photos, and minimizing situations, the media controls what we read and what news is broadcasted.

I chose this video because media misrepresentation has been an issue for years. Unfortunately, the media has a way of hiding stories and warping what we read and see. It is unfortunate how many stories get lost in translation and do not get the representation that they need and deserve.

The importance of representation of all races and genders in classrooms. Through books, posters, articles we share, it is important to aknwoldge the kids differences, as it is what makes them unique and who they are.
We as teachers are the heart of the classroom. It cannot flourish without us, and we must be there for our students and create a safe and positive environment for them.
Every teacher has different ways of classroom management. None are right or wrong, but there are definitely more effective ways to handle classroom situations and management.

I will not be afraid of teaching topics that may feel uncomfortable for me to address. For instance, race and sex-ed if necessary. As the teacher, it is my job to create a safe space in the classroom. By creating a safe space, the topics would be better acknowledged and followed by students.
I learned the importance of representation and how important it truly is. Especially in a classroom setting. Students will be surrounded by their peers who may look the same or different as them. It is my job to acknowledge these differences and celebrate them.

I really enjoyed the project about comparing the classrooms and their management strategies. I think doing one at the beginning of the course and one at the end of the course would be cool. It would be interesting to compare how different we view them at the beginning vs. the end of the course.
