Theme:National Identity of Hong Kong people

Recent cases:According to the latest survey, the public has a 7.85 mark on Asians, 7.65 on Hong Kong people and 6.88 on "World Citizens" with an absolute score of 0 to 10 , A sense of identity of "a part of the Chinese nation" was 6.74 points, a 6.53 point of respect for "Chinese people" and a sense of identity of 5.84 points for "People of the People's Republic of China." By adding the importance score and then using the "Identity Index" of 0 to 100 (the higher the index, the stronger the positive feeling), the public feel the most about "Hongkongese" with a score of 73.8, followed by "Asians" 70.7 points, 66.4 points for "Global Citizens", 64.4 points for "Chinese Nationality", 62.5 points for "Chinese" and 54.8 points for "People of the People's Republic of China".

Causes:1.The policies of the People's Republic make Hong Kong people dissatisfied and disagree
2.The image of the Chinese people in various parts of the world in recent years has caused disappointment and even resistance.
3.The development of Hong Kong is different from the development of the Mainland of China: Hong Kong adopts the capitalist system while the Mainland takes the socialist road. The difference in development experience between the two places has led to the formation of the Chinese identity in Hong Kong
The key meaning. Therefore, there is an emotion in Hong Kong that opposes the Chinese socialist regime. This emotion naturally becomes a core part of the identity of Hong Kong people.
4.Since Hong Kong was leased to the United Kingdom for almost 100 years, Hong Kong people have become less and less dependent on China in the past century, even though their motherland is only behind them.
Effect:1.Hong Kong people have no sense of belonging to the People's Republic of China.
2.Hong Kong people may persevere in their protest and Hong Kong independence.
3.Hong Kong people will have different values with Chinese people, so they will easily lead to conflicts.
4.Although Hong Kong has returned to the People’s Republic of China since 1997, due to identity issues and problems in all aspects, China and Hong Kong have not been able to successfully integrate. Even if the land has returned, the hearts of Hong Kong people are still not returning, and even some Hong Kong people still miss it. The past Hong Kong British rule.
Solution:1.Held a delegation to visit mainland China to learn about the motherland.
2.The government should not dwarf Hong Kong's native culture, suppress Cantonese, and lift Hong Kong people home. Hong Kong people only hate Chinese even more.
3.The Central Government should follow the policy of "one country, two systems" promised before the reunification and the policy of "a high degree of autonomy for Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong". Hong Kong people should not be out of step with each other. Now Hong Kong people lose confidence in the Central Government and reduce their sense of belonging to China.
4.The Hong Kong Government can add more non-assessment items from the Chinese history section, but it is by no means the government's reference to national education. It is too much to enlarge the superiority of the Chinese government. It is a controversial issue in China that allows students to think and understand China Culture at the same time, to enhance the recognition of the Chinese.

They may:
13.)miss, skip or drop out of school
14.)receive poor grades
15.)have lower self-esteem
16.)use alcohol and drugs
17.)The anonymity that the Internet affords has particular consequences. In most cases, cyber bullies know their targets, but their victims don’t always know the identity of their cyber bullies. This can lead to suspicion and alienation among peers.

18.)Young people posting messages on the internet do not feel as responsible for their actions as they might otherwise. They are not immediately confronted with the consequences of their actions and they don’t fear being punished for them. The nature of the medium means digital content can be shared and seen by a very wide audience almost instantly and is almost impossible to delete permanently. Young people may not be aware that the nature of cyber bullying provides for a permanent record of the bullying offense which could impact on them in the future.

19.)Young people are often fearful of reporting incidents, as they fear that adults will take away their mobile phone, computer and/or internet access.

20.)Like other forms of bullying it can cause stress and anxiety. This can make it more difficult for young people to learn. It can affect concentration levels and decrease ability to focus. In turn, this affects the ability to understand and retain information. For fear of reprisal after class, students who are being bullied can also demonstrate a reluctance to participate in lesson activities or discussions.

21.)They may feel distracted and pre-occupied with the bullying, spending time thinking of ways to avoid it.

22.)They may feel a lack of interest and motivation due to feelings of depression or anxiety.

23.)They might avoid school, complain of regular illness or mitch from classes or activities to avoid the bullying.

Solutions :
1.)Reinforce that no one deserves to be treated in this way and that they have done nothing wrong
2.)Ensure that they know that there is help available to them
3.)Encourage them to talk to a teacher that they trust so they feel they have somewhere safe at school to go to
4.)Encourage them to talk to their parents/carers and if this isn’t possible to write a letter or speak to another family member
5.)Take screen shots of the cyber bullying so that they have proof this is happening
6.)Report all abuse to the relevant social medianetworks by clicking on the “report abuse” button
7.)Keep a diary so they have somewhere safe and private to write down their innermost thoughts and feelings which will help to avoid feelings bottling up
8.)Give praise for being so brave and talking things through which will hopefully empower them to take responsibility and get help
9.)Sending abuse by email or posting it into a web board can be harassment and if this has happened make a complaint to the police who can trace IP addresses etc
10.)Ask the school if they have a School Liaison Police Officer that can help in this situation and talk to the school about the dangers and effects
