This poem also got me thinking about privilege. many people don't realize what others have to go through and the different events that impacts their life and others don't see. the certain privilege people have is very strong compared to others such as starr and her friends throughout the book

when unfair systems hurt people, finding your voice and standing up for whats right is the most powerful thing you can do.

starr goes though many different events in ways to try to find her voice. these events are such as protest, rallies, etc. she is a very shy girl many would say making it harder for her to express her feelings and ideas through her voice.
