The story is about a child called Mary Lennox. She was ten years old when she lost her parents in India and she went to live in England with her uncle. Mary was a spoiled and bad-tempered girl. She had no friends and liked to be alone. When I knew this story I identified myself. Because when I was ten years old, I felt lonely even thought I had everything.

When I started reading the book, I compared the story with the movie. The story is different in some things. For example, Mary's parents died on a fire in the movie. But in the book, they died due a disease. The book is better than the movie. It's possible to better understand the character.

Mary had no siblings. His mother was vain and left her with maids.

When Mary started living in Yorkshire, she thought there would be maids to take care her. But, she realized that she would have to dress herself, eat herself and play herself.

Martha (the maid) showed Mary that in life we cannot have everything we want all the time. Mary was a child who was learning to live in the world. She realized that she no longer had parents, no longer had maids, and her Uncle who should have been close to her was always traveling.
