Cult of Demoscticity

The cult was a restriction to women. Trying to get them stay and run the house, instead of letting them branch out for jobs. Their job was to bring up the children the right way and keep the house in check. However, many women would branch out and have conventions to fight for women's rights. The women's rights convention at Seneca falls is a good example of women trying to get their rights. Blackwell and Susan B. Anthony are strong supporters of women's rights because they believed the system was not right in their favor

The new family can be seen as a restriction on democratic ideals. It is much like the cult as it wants women to stay to educate the youth. This is against the democratic ideals as they want more rights for everyone to do and to be whatever they want to be in life.

America contributed many reforms and utopian movements because of the second great awakening. They were trying to have a more perfect society. One without intoxicating drink, discrimination and slavery. This is where women could escape from home to help themselves. These were all improvements that was trying to be made for the betterment of the US. Places such as New Harmony, Oneida community, and Brook farm were all places in the utopian movement. Everything was basically based on religion

The Second great awakening tried to do many things during its time. It created a prison reform, the temperance cause, women's movement, and the crusade to abolish slavery. It provided imprisonment for debt and a mental health reform. The first great awakening was mostly in New England. Both of these awakenings converted many people and changed the ideas that Americans had before. They both brought into to view the power of women into society. Especially in the second great awakening. They both were very big ideals during their time periods

Both of these excerpts can be seen as written to a general audience talking about the rights of women. The second one however is mostly a backlash statement to the first. The purpose of the first excerpt is saying that the conventions these women are holding is wrong to the declaration of independence and that they are trying to revolutionize the public opinion. It also says that women need to focus more on their duties instead of these conventions. The second tells that this man is trying to put women in a place that he does not have the power to do. He is trying to give a point but times have changed from so long ago and that women should be treated equally. Both of these tell from the point of first person but also talks about "we" as a country.

Architecture changed from a more federal and reserved style to a Greek style. Federal was more symmetrical and basic while Greek style focused mainly on the heroic things of people. Thomas Jefferson was known for being one of the ablest architects of his time. Painting during the early times didn't have much form either. It was mostly things of war and independence. They later turned to paintings more about landscapes and portraits. Some popular painters included Gilbert Staurt and John Trumbell. Like painting early American writing was mostly papers talking about rights or people wanting independence. During the 1800's they began to go into romanticism. Popular writers such as Copper and Irving would pop up during the time period.
