Explanation of Poem

The poem aims to address a common misconception involving women and the role they played in resistance and eventual liberation the Enslaved Africans during slavery in the Caribbean. A series of question highlights the invaluable quantity of efforts made by the African woman. They range from overt rebellions to passive strategies, highly strategic in nature. The poem shows the misconception of female powerlessness being transcended to centuries even after slavery. The issue of an unbalanced scaled between men and women continues to be alive and well in the Caribbean and is in need of redress.
