Cause & Effect - Why did rock and roll cause teenagers to become rebellious and violent?

Cause: Children of all ages were expected to be well behaved. They were expected to always be polite and be nicely and gently dressed. Before the 1950s, there was no such concept as "teenagers". Children would join the workforce at a young age to support their families when their fathers were at war. So, before the 50s, children would never question their adults, and would follow exactly as the adults said. As the 1950s approached, rock and roll music started gaining its popularity as a genre. This genre was very thunderous, roaring and loud.
Effect: Before the 50s, people were just listening to soothing country music, which obviously impacted the mindset and the behaviour of the youth. At the time rock and roll was the "new trend" in the market, so the young ones with less developed minds were quickly attracted towards it. During the 50s these children started listening to rock and roll music and started idolizing the singers and the artists. So, the children would try to imitate every thing that these rock starts did, without understanding the impacts of it. As the rock genre is pretty loud by nature, these children started getting influenced by the loud and rowdy mannerism, behaviour, fashion and attire of the rock stars. This influence led the children to start voicing their opinions, and this is when they were classified as "teenagers": young but not kids, old but not adults. These teenagers were soon getting spoilt by the rock culture as they were getting into things such as abuse, violence etc. So the adults tried to stop them. But they had already become highly influence by the rock stars so they started rebelling against the adults and the society.

Ethical Dimension - How and why did rock and roll encourage racism?

Rock-and-Roll music was greatly influenced by rhythm and blues, a sound associated with southern blacks as it evolved from the music created by African-American slaves in the rural South. For this reason, it was frowned upon by the conservative, white establishment . In fact, Elvis Presley got his recording
contract because he was white but sounded “black”. The coming together of white youth audiences and black music in rock and roll, inevitably provoked strong white racist reactions within the US, with many whites condemning its breaking down of barriers based on color.

Continuity & Change - Is rock and roll still as popular as the 1950s?

No, because, during 1950s the rock and roll music had just arrived and had started developing. So, things were new, different or unique and original. This attracted more people and that's why rock and roll music became popular. Nowadays, rock and roll music has become old. The legends such as Elvis Presley, Crew Cuts and Bill Haley aren't there anymore, and a lot of other new genres are evolving such as Dubstep, Rap, Electronic etc. And as people are always looking for something new and interesting, their attention moved from rock and roll to the new music genres. Thus, rock and roll isn't as popular as 1950s.

Cause: The adults were brought up in a certain way, which was being followed for many years. Plus, during their childhood they suffered a lot due to the wars. So, they weren't as affluent to waste money on buying new stuff of latest trends. They also had to join the workforce at a very young age, as they needed to support their families when their fathers were at wars. But the teenagers of the 1950s were brought up in a much affluent manner and could live their childhood for a longer time, instead of having to join the workforce for earning a living. In addition, they were said to be more arrogant, rebellious and violent than their adults were at their age.
Effect: So, the thought process, mentality and perspective of the adults and the teenagers of the 50s varied a lot. Neither the adults understood the teenagers' viewpoint, nor did the teenagers understand what the adults wanted. So, this created a generation gap.
