The students draw a picture and then write a sentence about their picture.

we will up the number of sentences as time goes by. this will be minmum requirement, students can write as many as they want.

Our goal is to write a 10 sentence story by end of june.

As we move along, we will take on many challenges but together we will make it a great year! Our first assignments are basics in Math and we will work our way we master the steps in relation to the next level.

It was a beautiful day. The children enjoyed the time outside silent reading in a different setting other than the classroom.

Our Grade 2 class came together to remember, learn, and reflect. Through stories, discussions, and creativity, we honored the children, families, and communities affected by residential schools. Together, we say with pride and compassion: Every Child Matters.

This week, My Grade 1 students learned about the Canadian flag in Social Studies! 🇨🇦 They enjoyed colouring the flag and showing their creativity. In the afternoon, they had so much fun playing Bingo Letters and doing a Freeze Dance activity! 🎨🎵 Everyone was excited and engaged all day! 😊

Steps:

• Start with the first number in the sequence. Example: Skip count by 2s. Start counting from 2.

• To find the next number, add the same number to the previous one.

• Skip numbers each time you count. Example : after 2, you skip 3 and say 4, then skip 5 and say 6, and so on. 

• Follow the pattern. Example: Keep adding 2 to find the next number in the sequence: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and so on. 

This week, our Grade 1 students had fun planting seeds in Science and learning how plants grow! 🌿 They also practiced letter chants to strengthen their phonics skills and worked hard tracing numbers from 1 to 100. 🔢 We explored sequencing activities and created a simple art craft to show their creativity and learning. 🎨✨

This week in Social Studies, we learned all about families and how each one is special in its own way. 💕

In Math, students enjoyed fun activities while learning the simple concept of addition ➕.

In Science, we explored more about growing plants, their needs. Do simple art crafts for their Art lesson 🎨.

📚 ELA: Our Grade 1 learners explored more about letter sounds using articulation cards and joined in the fun with our lively letter chants!

🔢 Math: We practiced counting numbers forward and traced numbers from 1–100 — what amazing number writers we have!

🎨 Art & Celebration: The class had a spook-tacular time decorating our door, outside board, and windows for Halloween. We also made fun Halloween artworks that showed off everyone’s creativity! 👻🕷️🎃

This week, the Grade 1 students learned about Remembrance Day and made beautiful wreaths to honor and remember the soldiers who fought for peace. In Math, they practiced basic addition using the Smartboard, making learning fun and interactive. In ELA, the students learned and practiced Dolch sight words to help improve their reading and fluency.

📘 Literacy (ELA)

• Continued practicing Dolch Sight Words through fun reading and chanting activities.

• Introduced our Letter of the Week: R — students enjoyed the “R” letter chant and learned the sound and words that begin with R.

🔢 Math

• Reviewed and practiced basic addition using hands-on activities and group work.

• Continued counting numbers from 1–100 with fun movement exercises to help students stay active while learning.

🐾 Science / Inquiry

• Started exploring animals — their characteristics, needs, and how they live. Students were excited to share what they know about different animals.

The class is excited about it but i know it will be a challenge when they go on stage.
