-Gen. George Washington ~ No one will EVER outrank him (named General of the Armies of the United States). Was paid 2% of the entire US budget. Fell in love with best friend George Will Fairfax's wife Sally before marrying Martha.
-Lord Cornwallis ~Was born on New Year's Eve. He voted against the Stamp Act. Claimed to be "sick" so he send his #2 when it came time to surrender.
-Paul Revere ~ Was a silversmith. Had 8 kids. Drew and distributed a false depiction of the Boston Massacre. Resembled Jack Black when he was young. 
-John Adams ~ Defended the Brits after the Boston Massacre. Owned no slaves. Died on the same day as Jefferson and said, "Jefferson lives".
-John Hancock ~ Said Congress relied on "Heaven for the justice of our cause". Graduated from Harvard. Both of his 2 kids died -young.
-Thomas Jefferson ~ Did not originally want to write the Declaration. Plagiarized most of his Declaration writing. Originally wanted to include the end of slavery.
-Benjamin Franklin ~ Was the oldest signer of the Declaration (70). Designed an instrument called a "Glass Harmonica". Created his own phonetic alphabet.
-Thomas Paine ~ Wrote the popular "Common Sense" magazine. Benjamin Franklin helped him move to the US. Only 6 people gathered at his funeral, 3 of which were slaves.

-Tea Act ~ A main protestor was John Hancock. 900k pounds was smuggled per year by the Dutch. It actually lowered the price of tea but was still unappreciated.
-Sugar Act ~ AKA American Revenue tax. Was mainly about rum (which contained the sugar molasses). Was seen as detrimental to the US.
-Dec. of Ind. ~ Was essentially plagiarized by Jefferson. The original write-up would've ended slavery. Was considered a traitorous act, punishable by a painful death.
-Treaty of Paris ~ The final wasn't signed until Sept. 3, 1783. The British wouldn't pose for a picture of the signing. -Boston Tea Party ~ Only 3 ships were present. Was only in Boston because of its trade importance. Benjamin Franklin offered to pay for the dumped tea.
-1st Cont. Congress ~ The Intolerable Acts were discussed. Decided to call for a boycott of British goods. Georgia actually wanted Britain's help with the Indians, so no representatives came.
-2nd Cont. Congress ~ Georgia came after deciding to join the Revolution. Washington was officially appointed General. The first president of the Congress was Peyton Randolph.
-Lexington & Concord ~ Involved only 700 British soldiers. 15k Americans surrounded the Brits after only 2 days. Only one British soldier was injured.
-Battle of Saratoga ~ Reinforcements and supplies never came for the British. British surrendered after 10 days. The battle greatly boosted America's morale and belief in the war.
-Siege of Yorktown ~ It won the war for the Americans. Only 9k British against 17k combined French and Americans.
