Cities enable a wider access to many opportunities comparing to rural areas. For example you can go to work in a skyscraper, then go to a cafe, then go to the shops, then see a play, go to a museum. The possibilities are endless and allow a culture to become vivid.

I think the answer to this question depends on which stakeholder's perspective you are thinking from.
Eg. farmers would definitely benefit more from less urbanisation however a teacher would definitely benefit from urbanisation as their students would live closer to the school.
But looking from a more wholistic point of view and considering the growth of a nation, the positives outweigh the negatives as it allows for economic growth and advancement in industries such as IT and Education.

The positives of urbanisation do outweigh the negatives. When people move from rural areas to more urbanised areas, it creates more job opportunities/ employment, can hold a larger population due to high rise buildings, increase in education, advancement in technology and economic growth. Economic growth creates financial stability and can also provide access to services such as hospitals, which can increase the population. There is more skill availability and allows the exchange of ideas. Though there are some negatives such as pollution, overpopulation, unemployment and thus crime rates and environmental degradation, the positives of urbanisation allows more opportunities for the population.
