         <description><![CDATA[<div>- as many opportunities to discuss &amp; collaborate with peers as possible<br>- never turn back to students, position self so you can always see &amp; know what's happening<br>- make each student feel respected &amp; seen (greet at the door, learning all names ASAP and know about each student)<br>- give students a REASON to want to learn what's being taught<br>- be caring &amp; non-judgmental while also holding student accountable<br>- don't let students apologize when they have a ?<br>- listen to what kids are telling you verbally and nonverbally<br>- use transitions (music, flipping lights on and off, countdown 5-4-3-2-1)<br>- thank students for their contributions &amp; questions<br>- have a journal or notebook warm-up during first 5 minutes of class<br>- provide positive consequences--telling parents about positive behavior, giving homework/missing work passes that cannot be xerox-ed</div>]]></description>
