Dear Diary, yesterday was Report Card Day.  Mama had never been to school so she could not read or write.  Papa read out my results to her. She was happy with my results because I did not fail in any of the subjects.  However, when Papa read out what Teacher wrote at the end of the report card, he was not pleased to hear that I was weak in my penmanship.  Mama said that she would make sure I practised my penmanship until it was good.  I promised Papa that I would do better. 

However, once I saw a large red sign that wrote “Latest Doll Doll Collection Here” that was deep in the store, I got excited and quickly ran towards it. “Billy, should I buy this doll or that?” but there was no reply. I wanted to scold my brother as he was not responding to me. I turned around and realised that he was not beside me! In fear, I quickly ran towards my parents and told them what had happened. Mummy went hysterical and started scolding me loudly. Daddy had to calm Mummy down. 

Suddenly, there was an announcement, “We are looking for a lost child, Amy Tan. She is 9 years old. She is wearing a pink polka-dotted dress. Anyone who has seen this child, please take her to the information counter. Her brother, Billy, is looking for her.”

What? Wait a minute. Who was lost? When we rushed over to the information counter, Billy was standing there. In the end, my parents praised Billy for his quick thinking and chided me for not taking care of him. Oh, my little brother got me into trouble again! 

The weather was great and I left the house with a bounce in my step. I grinned from ear to ear as I thought about the good fortune that led me to this visit. 

Dad and Mum have to work long hours at the hawker stall so that our family of six can have enough to eat. Every morning, Dad and Mum leave the house at 4 a.m. to get the stall ready and come home only at midnight. They barely get enough sleep. When Universal World Studios Singapore first opened last year, I desperately wanted to go there but I just didn’t dare to open my mouth. All my friends in school were talking about it. Everyone talked about how awesome the rides were and showed off the toys and souvenirs their parents had bought for them. I could only keep silent. 

Anyways, to my great surprise, last week, Aunt Helen won 4 tickets to Universal World Studios Singapore in a lucky draw and decided to take Jonas and me along. Can you believe my good luck? 

When we finally got to Universal Studios today, it was everything I had imagined and more! My favourite ride was the roller-coaster. I loved it so much that I took it three times! Aunt Helen even bought us ice-creams and a souvenir t-shirt each. Jonas and I took tonnes of selfies! This was the best day of my life!
