I see Grendel as a skinny old bitter man with grey hair. He appears to be just an old man but when he gets mad, a monster comes out. To me Grendel has yellow eyes because he can see in the dark as it states in annotation #2 Grendel himself says, " In the darkness, I alone see clear as day." Grendel also has a scary terrifying smile. Grendel says," I smile like exploding spring." I imagine when Grendl gets to attacking his appearance changes.He gets stronger and his nails grow . In Beowulf it tells us that Grendel has claws. He has to be strong because in Beowulf it also tells that he snatched up thirty men. This is the image of Grendel that comes to me when i imagine him

I decided to post Lorenzo Graise from 6th period image of what Grendel looks like. His picture was different to me. Also his explanation. He see's Grendel as a everyday human with problems.I agree with him. Instead of being typical and classifying Grendel as a monster he thought outside the box and classified him as a person he sees everyday. Grendel is the monster inside you all the ugly things that is wrong instead of a physical monster.

This article was basically explaining how Beowulf was translated.Beowulf was written in the 18th century in old english. John Ronald Reul Tolkien or J.R.R. translated Beowulf from old english in 1926 at the age 34. He learned old english and how to read poems at an earlier age. Him and his school friends founded the private literacy club and thats when he determined he loved Beowulf. He was the first to successfully translate Beowulf but he never published it. Luckily his son found it in his drawer. Afterr 40 years of Tolkiens death his son published it. Tolkien believed Beowulf wasnt an epic. It was simply just a poem. He also thinks the events actually accured in 500 A.D. The rest of the article states facts about Grendel and Beowulf as characters.

This song reminds me of Grendel because I don't think Grendel wants to be a monster it's just who he is. He cant control. I also think Grendel wishes to be human and secretly inside he wants for somebody to change him so he wont feel so left out and lonely. He also wants to feel how it is to actually be human. The song say, "I cant escape it." This is true for Grendel. He has to stay a monster because of what his Grandfather Cain did. I think what brought the real monster out of him was him seeing his father killed.Although he doesn't hide his monster side because he cant or doesnt want to, I think this song fits best with Grendel.
