I think the author is trying to tell me to have strong relationships with someone or something you love very much, because in the story the author is showing the relationship between Peter and Pax I know this because the book is based off of a boy and his favorite thing in the world.
I know this because the text states on in chapter 2 after Peter letting his bested friend go he went off to go find I know this because in states on pg.22,23 it says, “on the brick walk, he shrugged on his sweatshirt and crouched to his lace boots. He straightened up and shouldered his backpack. Then he took a moment to look around. The house behind him looked smaller than it had when he’d arrived, as if it were already receding into the past. Across the street, clouds scudded along the horizon, and a half-moon sunddenly emerged, brightening the road ahead”. Also on pg.19 It states, “He stuffed everything into his backpack except the sweatshirt, which he tried around his waist. Jackknife in his jeans pocket. Wallet. He debated for a minute between his hiking boots and sneakers and decided on the boots, although he didn’t put them on”. I know this because looking back at the evidence this shows because how big of a relationship between Peter and Pax. And how Peter will go out and find his friend. This makes me feel strong for Peter and hope.c

Chose a few characters and describe ther relationships how are they alike and how are the different

I chose peter pax and grandpa I believe these charecters are alike but definetly have there differences for exsample when peter had to leave pax because of the war he said "I was balling in tears dad dont do this you've should have left this fox scince the day you found him I was 12 years old and haven't cried in years but this was enough " I believe this is a symbolic exsample for how pax and peter are alike I believe they pax is symbolic to peter because both have family that have died and gave a perspective to both of them and they can only share with each other and this gives them a likeness like nothing elsebut there also different in someways for exsample the most obvious thing is that peters a human and pax is a fox but peter is in a way introverted and is not the most popular kid but pax is always ready for a adventure but again there both the same amount brave now let's move on to grandpa peter and grandpa have a very close connection much like peter and pax grandpa and peter love each other so very much and they tell secrets to each other for exsample " your dad had a pet to a dog agod I said confused he never mentioned anything like that " this shows a alikeness for them loving each other and theres not really any differences so if I was in the situation peter was in I would be very confused why is there a war why didn't he tell me about his dog and alot more whys I fell that peter is being very mature through this hard hard situation so in conclushion pax peter and grandpa are very alike

What word best describes the main character? Why?

If I could think of one word that would describe Peter it would be survivor. I chose survivor because Peter goes through a lot of struggles especially his mom being dead. On page 47 the text states, “When Peter’s mother had died, he’d gone for a while to a therapist.” Peter had to get through it and work hard to be strong. He also had to deal with getting ride of pax. On page 7 the text states, “as the car sped away in a pelting spray of gravel, the father cried out the boys name, Peter! And the boy cried out the only other name the fox knew. Pax!” Peter didn’t want to get ride of pax but he had to do what his dad thought was right since there was a war. This is how I know Peter is a survivor.

He debated for a minute between his hiking boots and sneakers and decided on the boots, although he didn’t put them on”. We know this because looking back at our evidence it says what we were explaining.

What is the theme of the story? What details help you to determine the theme?

I think the theme of the story is fight for what you love. I think this because Peter is going to find Pax and he has a rough journey ahead of him. On page 18 the text states “leaving Pax hadn’t been the right thing to do. He jumped to his feet- he’d already lost a lot of time.” This tells me Peter is getting up and ready to find his buddy. During Peter’s journey he had a struggle because he broke his leg and that didn’t stop him to go find Pax. On page 55 the text states, the pain was far broken thumb feel like a mosquito bite in comparison. He couldn’t walk.” This is why I think the theme of the story is fight for what you love.

What is the relationship between Peter and his grandfather?

The relationship between Peter and grandfather is not so tight because, when Petrer’s grandfather told him he had to let Pax in the wild. Peter was feeling really strong about letting his best friend go and how his grandfather new he was best friends with a Fox. I know this because the text states on pg.7 it states that, “His boy rolled the window down and reached his arms out. And as the car sped away in pelting spray of gravel, the father cried out the boy’s name, “Peter!” And the boy cried out the only other name the Fox knew. “Pax!” Also it states on pg.19 it talk about when Peters grandfather said put the fox back of course he went to go find his friend it states 19 It states, “He stuffed everything into his backpack except the sweatshirt, which he tried around his waist. Jackknife in his jeans pocket. Wallet. He debated for a minute between his hiking boots and sneakers and decided on the boots, although he didn’t put them on”. How do you know?

I think the structure of the story is problem and solution because Peters lost his buddy Pax but, now Peter is on his journey to find him. Peter has some problems along the way and he does have some solutions about them. On page 29 the text states, “he’d stumbled along in the dark another hour before giving up”. That is one of his problems that he was outside looking for Pax all day. On page 18 the text states, “leaving Pax hadn’t been the right thing to do.” That was another problem and them he stared to search for Pax.

Use two specific deatails from the story to support your answer.

I think that peter thinks that pax is the best pet and that is why he went to find him because if he did not like pax he would have not gone after him. I know this because in the first section of the book it has peter roll down the window and scream pax's name and because his dad made him leave pax in the woods. If peter did not like pax he would have never gone after him and leave his home and family behind. Also in the beginning he is talking about how his favorite toy that pax loved from the start of it all and his dad made peter throw it in the woods so pax would run after it and they could get out of there. If the whole book was peters fad it would be alot different than what
