I wouldn't live in Dharavi because there is no decent food sources or water sources. If I was to need immediate surgery of any kind i would have to travel to a whole other city. The lack of cleanliness is disgusting I think that if I was to live somewhere i would like to not be worried about going to certain places because I was going to get malaria from a mosquito.

When I hear the word slums I think of poor, homeless, dirty people, people with no shelter, no money and little food and water. One surprising thing I learned about slums was that, very few households have private toilets. Most people have to walk to reach a used, dirty, unhygienic toilet. 20% of the cleanest water in the world is flushed down the toilet. While there are people out there who drink dirtier water than we flush.

Honestly, I would leave Dharavi if I had lived there, it’s such a horrible way to spend your life, being dirty, starving, thirsty, uncomfortable, uneducated. People need to be hydrated, clean and educated. Growing up in a place like that can completely change your whole life and future. Having a happy, healthy childhood can make your life so much better.

One thing I found surprising- I always thought of a slum as a poor handmade housing area for people who couldn’t afford to live in houses/afford water/afford electricity. I thought that they were unsanitary and that most of them where abandoned. I presumed that the individuals who lived in such areas were famished and rid of water. I was surprised to find out that my thoughts among many others were wrong, as it turns out Daravhi, among many other slums similar to it are very successful in heath, business, cleanliness and population.
Daravhi as many businesses laying under its roofs, they have both very successful food and clothes establishments for everyone who lives there to shop at. The slums have fresh water, even though its not supplies directly to the slums many people still find ways to bring it to their house.

If i loved in Daravhi I don’t think that I would leave, not that i have a lot of choice as a child in this family matter, but it seems like a lovely community to be apart of and I would enjoy finding ways live sustainably.

I was surprised of the ongoing situations in Dharavi; they had to walk 15 minutes just to get to the toilets. It's good that we have donations that contribute to Dharavi's future generations, which can guarantee and secure children's future lives.

Knowing that Coffs itself and many other cities, towns, and countries have better sustainability than Dharavi itself, it mightn't be too bad for tourists if they'd want to live in an area with restricted resources, however, if they wanted to meet new people and have fun with them Dharavi wouldn't be the best, but it'd be good. People still can't guarantee them catching a cold, flu, or even start a new pandemic. future Future generations and the citizens of Dharavi has an enhanced chance of building houses that are liveable in by using the donated money correctly instead of using it a dumb way such as hierarchies buying alcohol, or being resources to become a tyrannical country where the government means everything.

I was surprised how Dharavi are able to fit in so many shops in there tiny area. They were all positive people and never worried about each making fun/ talking bad about there lifestyle. They all know each other and got along really easy. They had to walk 15 minutes just to go to the toilet and also had to pay to use them. They only were allowed to get water for a certain amount of time. I wouldn't live there because of the lack of water sources and because they struggle for food. I also wouldn't live there because they have a lot of pollution problems and have to ban shops because of there pollution problems, they have multiple problems with there air pollutions and are trying to fix it, so they have to ban some shops so they can fix it.

Evander 7E

My thoughts of inside dharavi is I feel sad and I feel sorry for all people that live there the people there is called a slum which means that they are less fortunate and their family’s are poor and in need of jobs to feed their children I found that their businesses make a lot of money for their country but not them selves I was surprised because most poor areas only have tarp or tents for their homes but they have brick homes. The word (slum) to me means is a very tight area with not that much space but their populations are growing and the streets are getting more crowded and people that are less fortunate then others like people that has good jobs have better food but slums don’t which is a big difference. The community spirit is very nice and they are helping other people. I would not live there because the homes are very Crowded and the drinking water only comes 2 hours and there are health hazards and the area is too crowded. Slums are very nice people but they have no good food or water.

For example they would share food and celebrations.
I was amazed that you could only get water during a 2hour period each day, and if you missed out you had to wait until the next day.
I was also impressed by how well dressed and clean their clothing was and it was folded so neatly in their allocated space.
I didn't think they would have TV's or mobile phones.
