People's destruction of the environment leads to the lack of resources. A world war was inevitable. The government had set its sights on outer space, launching spacecraft in the hope of finding new habitats. He studied and worked hard to become an astronaut. In this country, astronauts meant that the food and safety of the family were guaranteed. However, war always comes a little faster than expected. Before his ship had even left the solar system, it had already stopped receiving signals from Earth. He had no choice but to see himself and the gene pool of more than 10,000 different species on board as the last hope for humanity.

"Happy birthday to ya!" the ship's system blared out of nowhere. It had been ages since he left Earth at 20 - this was his first birthday wish in a hot minute. Most times he was out cold, but when awake he stayed busy scanning planets, fixing ship stuff... Just like the first 20 years, always busy but no clue why. The man stood up with his chair, and shook his giddy head as if to remember why he was drunk. During his decades in space flight, he was never careful and meticulous, and would not make the mistake of getting drunk. Moments later, the man sees the data from the drone, which shows that due to the lightning and thunder outside, the planet's environment was not suitable for human habitation. The man seemed to remember something, just ready to sit back to work seriously when that strength suddenly removed. This is the fifth drone that has been sent, and the results still show that the planet is uninhabitable. According to experience, men are already on their way to find the next planet. But less than 1 percent of the fuel on the dashboard seemed to be taunting him, "Stop dreaming, this is your life, this is the fate of humanity."

The spaceship sits quietly in a desolate field. He lay down again, staring blankly at the ceiling. Outside is still gray, lightning in the sky constantly vents their anger. The rain played a beautiful tune against the hull of the spaceship. The wind blew in, whirring, "Is there a window somewhere that is not closed?" The man thinks, but his body does not respond. The wind blows to his face, the man only felt the pain of being blown, and his heart could not help but be agitated, as if everything in the world was causing him trouble, and nothing had gone well since he set out. The wine bottle was blown by the wind. I do not know when it blew to the man's hand. The man poured it into his mouth, and the last drops of red wine in the universe disappeared. Looking at this bottle of ordinary red wine in the original, the man's thoughts also flew back to that era. The rain was falling heavily as he walked the darkened street. Above, thick clouds masked both moon and stars, leaving the night sky an impenetrable black. Only the occasional streetlamp provided fragmented circles of pale luminescence.

Most shops had long since closed up for the evening. Doors were locked, windows shuttered. All was shadowy and still under the steady downpour. Then up ahead, a welcoming glow emerged from the rain.

Behind steamed glass, the izakaya buzzed with a crowd spilling from within. Laughter and lively chatter drifted out into the night, accompanied by the sizzle of grilling fish and hissing soy sauce. Colorful neon signs flickered over hanging racks of skewered food on display.

Drawn by the light and activity, he wandered nearer. At the entrance, strips of yellow curtain kept the worst of the weather at bay. Stepping from blackness into the warmth and humidity within was like entering another world.

All around, patrons shared drinks and stories at low tables. The bartender and servers wove expertly between patrons with trays balanced overhead. For a moment, he paused, letting droplets fall from his coat to the floor before continuing inside. The storm outside faded into distant background noise, and he joined the shelter of friends, food and drink against the pouring rain.

A day I will never forget.

You know, this is the eighth time in my life that I've made up my mind to lose weight. The decision is easy to make and often takes only a small moment - like seeing an inspiring weight loss story or stepping on the scale one dreadful day. But this time was different. It was my mom who asked me to go to the gym. It’s weird, isn't it? She never brought it up before. I remember a few years ago, my whole family was influenced by some fad TV show, and we all got expensive annual gym passes together. However, maybe two months in, maybe three, no one mentioned our past fitness aspirations. Everyone's enthusiasm fizzled out faster than a kid's interest in vegetable. I thought my mother knew this was a common familial trait, so why pay for more memberships this time?

Then I spotted the big "FREE EXPERIENCE" flyer on the dining room table and it all made sense. "Free" is a magical word for my mother - she's really spellbound by it. Whenever she misses out on something gratis, she feels like she just let a bill silp through her fingers. Like if the grocery store was giving away free eggs but she forgot, mom acts as though the universe has personally robbed her. Under that giant "FREE" ploy on the flyer, the fine print revealed it was a limited 3-day offer from the 12th to the 15th, one experience per person. Oh god, it was the afternoon of the 15th already! To make matters worse, I'd just finished my dinner and ate as much as I can. I could already picture the food sloshing around in my belly as I moved - burger and fries did  a somersault with each steps on the treadmill. A thin layer of sweat formed on my forehead at the thought of the disgusting feeling. My stomach let out an unholy yell, as if the mere idea of physical exertion had deeply offended it. I made a mental note to avoid any abdominal exercises unless I wanted to vomit it out in front of everyone. The more I thought about having to move on a full stomach, the more I regretted eating three different hamburgers for dinner. If I had known there would be such a fitness class, I wouldn't have eaten so much food anyway.

"Mom, I really don't think this gym trial is for me... especially today," I protested, rubbing my distended belly. “Don’t overthink it, you're just checking out the amenities - no exercise required, okay?" She gave me a look that indicated this wasn't really a request.  Although she always said that, everyone knew that once we started the fitness class, we would be hooked and keep signing up for more. When will my mom learn that "Free is sometimes the most expensive “. In my family, I am always at the bottom of the food chain. Above me are the cat and dog, and towering over them are my parents. Yes, I feel like my parents care more about the dog and cat most of the time because they always say I can take care of myself, but the cat and the dog are just little kids. So, my feeble protest was easily swatted away like a pesky fly. Not only that, but mom kept badgering me not to miss out on the course. Reluctantly, I went. For the first time, I noticed just how terribly close the gym was to our place - it seemed to materialize after just a few eye blinks. It was also the first time every little thing on that short walk catchs my curiosity - The people hurrying to and from, the flashing neon lights on the billboards, and even the dew falling from the leaves all interested me. Given the choice, I would rather stand in the street for an hour than go to the gym. If I didn't go in, I could lie to myself that I'm not really that fat. Which is why I smartly avoid having a scale at home - I absolutely loathe facing the reality of the numbers. I think as long as people live happily, that's more important than anything, right? If eating snacks and burgers brings me simple pleasures, why not indulge?

Happiness is the most fundamental thing in life, isn't it? Some ancient Greek philosopher said that, I'm pretty sure. Or wait, did I just make that up? Well, it doesn't really matter who said it first. Just like no one really knows how the whole universe operates, how it began, why humans exist and not other life forms. What even is a dream - could it be glimpses of parallel realities? Standing before the gym's entrance, some philosophical questions I had never thought before suddenly flooded my mind, leaving me perplexed. What is the purpose of our existence? Everyone has their own answer, but in this moment, my heart was filled with only confusion. Through the glass doors, I could see rows of people exercising - some weightlifting, others doing cardio. Many had incredibly toned physiques that looked like they belonged to professional athletes. But if they already possessed near-perfect bodies, why did they still burn calories here? The reasons varied - perhaps to maintain their figures, to build strength, or maybe it was simply an ingrained habit and lifestyle.

For me, however, the reason for coming here was simple - to make one final stand against my weight. This would be the battleground where our struggle would rage. Searching my heart, I realized that in the past seven times of lose weight, I had always been the underdog, suffering defeat after defeat. Yet even so, I remained determined, gripping the door handle tightly as if it were the source and embodiment of my courage and resolve. To open this door meant embarking once more on the seesaw war against obesity. As a veteran who had never tasted victory, I was so lacking in bravery and confidence，but simultaneously, I yearned to emerge triumphant, to prove to the mocking, disdainful voice in my head that I could succeed.

Life is like this door - simple yet complex. I don't know what awaits on the other side, but I must make a choice. To surrender or to fight – it's my own decision. Taking a deep breath, I pulled open the gym's entrance with force and stepped into a brand new challenge.

There are still many areas that I find quite challenging, such as how to rhyme or create a good poem. I find this particularly difficult because I often need to think for a long time before coming up with even a little content, and then I have to keep revising it. During the group poetry writing exercise, I noticed that others were able to come up with the next line much more quickly, while I struggled to come up with any ideas. I consider this to be quite a challenging task.Some content is relatively simple, such as free writing, where you just need to write down what's on your mind without worrying about grammar errors.

Overall, this class has taught me a great deal, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn so many valuable writing skills and techniques.
