I remember my time in ateneo highschool wherein we had a gamified app called classcraft. The approach was more of RPG, and you could be a character with various different classes, abilities, races and others. You could be like a sage, a warrior, a magician...

Every time you need to pass a requirement you would constantly level up, and along with it, you can pick different perks, types of clothing to customize your characters and abilities. I'd remember how one ability had something to do with extending the deadline of your requirement in one day. Among other awesome perks, having this gamified approach DID motivate me to continue studying. I felt a sense of accomplishment and I genuinely enjoyed customizing my character right after I level up (pass my requirement) . It makes it soo fulfilling!

- Vinnie Vinculado

To form our groupings, the application "wheel of name" was used just like the wheel of fortune game but minus the cash prizes, of course. Rather than the traditional 'choose your own group mates' or the pre-made group or team by the instructor, the wheel of names fosters a sense of thrill and excitement of what will be the outcome. With this form of making teams for group activities, this motivate human engagement and makes learning much fun and interactive. Compared to the choosing your own group mates scheme and random group created by the instructors, the wheel of names allows to work with colorful spinning of wheels in order to build teamwork engagement and interactivity.

- Justine Lazo

The game wasn't captured on camera but we had a fun time during our previous PE session. Ma'am Tal, our aerobic dance professor, made sure to keep the fun atmosphere amidst a quiz by 1) making it into a game; and 2) giving out gcash as a reward. The mechanics were easy to follow and enjoyable--we had to put our hands up and wait for her go signal before typing. The fastest one to enter the correct answer gets a point. Such a game made sure we retained the information learned through the class while having a bit of fun!

P.S.: This week's theme was a party so we had our drinks *wink wink* held for the class pic.

- Gabby Pangalangan

For our Fil 18 class this semester, we were tasked to play this game called "dugtungan" as an introductory activity. As the name suggests, the game revolves around us naming something we like and/or associate ourselves with. The next person would then have to connect it to his/her entry, until the last person is called. It was interesting to see how quick my classmates would connect a certain object or concept to another with a personal touch. Personally, it allowed me to know more about the people I'll be with for a whole semester.

- Gabby Pangalangan

Along with Canva's timer feature, another platform used was the randomizer to know the order of students who would recite. Since the subject is the Basics of Instructional Communication, ma'am MJ had us discuss topics like a professor for a maximum of 30 seconds each. It was a nerve-wrecking at fist, given that we were challenged to think on the spot and "teach" everyone present in class. However, it was a fulfilling experience overall.

- Gabby Pangalangan

I don't have a picture of us playing games but this is a picture of me and my classmates with our German 10 professor during my freshmen year. My professor would usually use games to wrap up lessons that we've tackled. The class would be divided into two teams and the team who would get the most number of points would gain additional points for a certain output that we submitted in class. My classmates and I would always look forward to this because learning German sometimes gets overwhelming, so at least when we're playing games, we can have fun while recalling the lessons. Up until today, I can still remember how to write numbers in German because of the games that we've played! I also noticed that using gamification in education did not just increase class participation, engagement, and motivation, but it also strengthened our relationship with our professor.

- Kimberley Rose Reyes

I don't have the pictures of how our class looks like before. But, when I was in grade 9, yung teacher namin sa math, grinoup niya yung buong class into five with four members. Everything we do sa class may points palagi, paunahan sumagot sa blackboard with complete and proper solution (para itong maze runner hahaha, sobrang haba pa ng tatakbuhin bago makarating sa board; hinga hingal muna), quiz, paunahan magtaas ng white board kapag dinidictate niya lang yung mga tanong, and even individual yung recitations, napupunta lahat ng points sa group and to many to mention. Calculated yun from the start, which also make everyone accountable sa mga group nila talagang nahihirapan sa math. Sobrang competitive ng class, walang nagpapatalo. Marami pa siyang game, but 'di ko na ma-recall yung name ng bawat isa. Super interactive and ang hype every class time niya. All I can say is that Gamefication in class is super effective for students to retain what they learn on specific subjects/course. So, ang ending, my group got the award. Exempted kami sa major exam. Yehey! Most memorable class ever for me.

- Yra Joyce Mabana
