         <title>Elias Howe</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Elias Howe is the person that invented the sewing machine. Elias was born July 9, 1819. He was born in Spencer, Massachusetts and he died in Brooklyn in 1867. Howe was interested in machinery since childhood, he worked in a cotton machinery factory in Lowell ,Massachusetts. For five years Howe spent all his spare time making the sewing machine, and in 1846 he was granted a patent for it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>John Deere was born February 7, 1804 in Rutland, Vermont. He went to public school and began his career as a blacksmith apprentice at age 17. He spent the next 12 years trading in towns around Vermont. In 1838 after some &nbsp; experimentation he crafted a new kind of plow and sold his first one.          <title> Alexander Graham Bell</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Alexander Graham Bell was born March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Bell followed his his grandfather and his father to become a teacher for the deaf. Bell was more keen on developing a voice transmitting device, which he would later call the telephone. The device allowing for multiple messages to be sent over wire was one of the most exciting innovations of the day.          <title>Oliver Evans</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Oliver Evans was born on Sept. 13, 1755 near Newport, Del. He attacked another major industrial production problem&nbsp; in 1784, at the age of 29. He built a stationary engine that turned a rotary crusher to produce pulverized limestone for agricultural purposes.          <title>Edwin Drake</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Edwin Laurentine Drake&nbsp; was born March 29, 1819 in Greenville, New York. Drake was raised on a farm and worked as a hotel and dry-goods clerk. He became a conductor but a few years later he had to retire for health reasons. Stockholders formed a new company, the Seneca Oil Company, sold some stock to Drake.
