I think Bat feels confused by other children at his school. I don't think he knows why Lucca would feel embarrassed by what he said. Lastly, I think Bat thinks school is loud!

Janie thinks the kit should be named Thor because she's learning about Greek Mythology in school and thinks that name would suit him. Thursday is named after the god Thor and used to be called Thor's Day and Thursday was the day of the week that the kit was born on. The problem is that mom has said they will only look after the kit for a few weeks before turning its care over to the rescue centre. To convince his mom to let the kit stay longer bat does research so that he can prove he is a responsible caregiver for the kit. He also writes an email to a skunk expert named Dr. Jerry Dragoo. Mom is impressed at all the research, care and interest Bat has demonstrated and agrees to allow Bat to care for Thor until he is old enough to be released into the wild.

The second book starts right where we left off from A Boy Called Bat. 

Some new characters have been introduced-Ezra (a friend of Janie's) and Cora (Israel's mom). Ezra isn't good at telling jokes and often comes as teasing Bat with his jokes. Cora is very artistic and Bat likes looking at her pottery creations even though he wouldn't be interested in making anything because he doesn't like touching things that are sticky. 

My favourite parts from chapters 1-9 are:
1. Janie got the role of Alice
2. When Israel dad, Tom, tells Bat he's cool 
3. When Israel agrees to be Bat's partner for the Spring Project and gives him the skunk sculpture as a present.

Janie named the game of War Bananafish because at the time Bat refused to learn how to play War and his favourite words were "banana" and "fish". He was then agreeable to learn how to play Bananafish and ended up loving it!

Dad knows that Bat doesn't enjoy baseballs but when Bat asks him what his favourite thing is about baseball, when they're at a game, his dad tells him it's spending time with Bat, being outside, and watching the game.
