He would throw things at them and do his best to terrify the girls. One of the girls went to bed in the room he normally resided in, and was woken up in the middle of the night when a strange figure appeared. She was frozen in place, unable to speak as he walked towards her and began leaving cold objects next to her head. Once he was finished he vanished, leaving the maid to scream and notify the owner of the house. He came in and discovered a litter of dead white kittens with bloody red handprints pressed on each of their bodies. Creepy!

The first occasion was when the city decided to relocate the bodies in a cemetery in order to build the cable car system in a straight line. The bodies were moved to the Yerba Buena Cemetery, where they didn't stay for long. That cemetery was moved again in order to build City Hall. But, when people were trying to find the bodies from the original cemetery, many of them were missing, mutilated, or piled in mass graves.
