Charles Frederick Worth was an English fashion designer who worked as a textile merchant. Due to his surroundings, he gained knowledge of fabric and how the business operated. It is believed that while visiting the National Gallery, Worth was inspired by the art of dressmaking in portraits, which led him to become a sales clerk shortly after relocating to Paris. He began collaborating with a fabric specialist named Gagelin, and together they opened a small dressmaking department. Over time, Worth’s designs became so well-known that his name was frequently mentioned in fashion magazines, attracting attention, especially from women. As a result of his popularity and success, he became the dressmaker for Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III of France. Moreover, he is considered the first fashion designer as well as the “Father of haute couture."

this is my second experiment. I combined half of the corset with roses blooming emphasising life. on the other side, I drew half of the skull with a dead rose falling on the side which implies death.

For this experiment, I aim to demonstrate how wearing a corset can symbolise mortality by illustrating a reflection of a skull. Initially, I planned to include text beneath the drawing to give it the feel of a poster, but I ultimately decided against it, as the image alone conveys the message powerfully.
