The cotton gin is an amazing device that is very simple in its design and purpose. It is mostly a wooden cylinder that contains rows of spikes, and as the wooden cylinder is turned the cotton is dragged through the spikes causing and seeds left in the cotton to pop out.
𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧 50 𝘮𝘦𝘯, 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘳

It was invented by Eli Whitney 1793 and was used by turning a crank which spinned a wooden cylinder, which had wired teeth that were placed accordingly to let cotton pass but not the seeds. Before this version there was one found in India dated back to 300 B.C but Whitney's version was much more efficient. In fact it was so effiecient it produced more than 50 times as much as a slave laborer could in a day due to this increase of cotton being produced plantations could provided the Northeastern states and England with cotton. There was a problem with the southern states and using the machine which made it harder for Whitney to get the patent. This was due to a rumor that slavery was on a decline and the cotton gin would make slaves needed even less so when Eli went to southern courts it was always ignored.
The cotton gin along with many other inventions in the textile industry increased demand for whatever use they held. This increased the economy as people are putting more money into buying things such as the cotton gin. Which in turn allowed them to produce more cotton giving them more money selling the cotton gin so they are able to continue buying these products that make a business easier and more efficient and trade the product created for more money creating a cycle. After getting over the hump of getting a patent with the south, cotton quickly became one of the most dominant crops in the south.

It revolutionized the textile industry which allowed for more technology and more advanced technology to be developed. This in turn led to the modernisation of the world's technology. Which caused the economy to increase due to more buying the cotton gin and other new technologies. Which also allowed for those people to modify and improve upon it. So overall it led to an economic boost that had a massive chain reaction. The cotton gin also revolutionized the cotton industry. It did the same amount of work in one day, that 50 men could do in one day. This allowed cotton to be produced, harvested and seeds removed and planted again much faster than producing it, taking possible months to harvest it and get the seeds out, and then planting it again. This in turn made more people invest in cotton and the cotton gin allowing more people to have better clothing to due increased cotton production and for people to also sell cotton the produce with the cotton gin.
