This event took place in Mississippi when people tried to increase the amount of black voters. During this event, KKK klansman and authorities slaughtered black people so that they wouldn’t be able to place a vote. The leader of this event was Robert Moses who was a civil rights activist who encouraged the event. The SNCC and CORE were the organizers of this event trying to get black people to vote. It was a nonviolent effort by civil rights activists to integrate Mississippi segregation laws.

This is an obstacle because this made it hard on black people to vote and more or less live for that matter. A tactic used during the Civil Rights Movement was the Freedom Summer. The outcome of the Freedom Summer was helpful in the success of the Civil Rights Movement.
