I feel the monster told Conor the first story because it has to do with Conor's future. The story was about a prince who kills the farmer girl to turn the kingdom against her. I feel this relates to him telling on Lily and letting her suffer the consequences instead of Harry and his friends. Another thing he could be predicting would be something with his mothers illness or his grandmother. I feel since the Monster said 3 stories until Conor tells his story, that every story pry open a crack in the door of the truth until he can't keep it in anymore. Each story must hit him in some way to prepare him for the end.

I think Conor's grandmother reacted that way because she was sad and angry too, so maybe she needed to break something. I feel this is the reason because knowing your daughter is dying and not being able to do anything is one of the worst things to go through. Also, the fact that she had just lost all the hard- earned money on that furniture, maybe she thought that it wasn't worth it to just keep the display. This can also be a reason because the stress of having to take care of Conor and her daughter at the same time can be stressful, plus her job seems like a lot for his grandma.

I think that the Fourth Tale will be about his mom dying and whatever is in his nightmare. I feel his nightmare is about his mother dying and maybe how hard it's going to be on him letting her go.

Reflection of First Tale

I feel the first tale reflects Conor's expiriences because of what happened with his grandmother. First of all, Conor's Grandmother came back and he hated her, which resembled the witch. So Conor, being furious really wanted the queen to be dead in the tale, but later finds out the prince was the killer. So his injustice towards his mother or maybe his grnadmother was what got the tree standing.
