No, I don't think that there are different races of people i think we are all one race which is the human race . I believe that because there is no proof that there are ,all we have is differences of color , religion, culture , and things like that. We as people divide ourselves into social groups where we all relate into something but that's not race. In the article , "if race is a social construct", it said "The modern consensus of evolutionary biologists is that our species does not have enough genetic variability among its populations to justify either the identification of geographically based races" . And the article, "Obama meets Lucy", “we are reminded that Ethiopians, Americans, all the people of the world are part of the same human family, the same chain. And as one of the professors who was describing the artifacts correctly pointed out, so much of the hardship and conflict and sadness and violence that occurs around the world is because we forget that fact. We look at superficial differences as opposed to seeing the fundamental connection that we all share.”. Both quotes from the article is evidence that scientist state that there are no actual race except the human race and we humans use our different lives and perceptions to create the different "races" we know today.

No I do not believe there is such thing as a "different race". I think that race is something that we as people divide ourselves into with people who look/think somewhat like ourselves. The article "Obama Meets Lucy" states "Dr Zeresenay Alemseged, senior curator of anthropology at the California Academy of Sciences

Alemseged said Lucy demonstrated how all human beings are connected". What that quote means is that lucy is a little piece of proof that we all are descendants from the same organism. In "If Race is a Social Construct, What’s up with DNA Ancestry Testing". It states that "All modern humans living today are descended from people who once lived in East Africa". Lucy being from Ethiopia (East Africa) it all really does add up.

I do believe we all come from one person and that race is a concept that was made up to divide society. If there was no such thing as race nobody would really be perceived differently, other than their cultural and religion of choice. In the article "Obama Meet Lucy" they state how Lucy is the mother of all life. "Lucy had a very small brain, primitive wrists, feet and teeth and was only one metre tall, but was still declared “the grandmother of humanity" ". Which means we are all apart of the same human family. This goes to show race was man made and put in place to seperate people and a way for one human to have power over another.

no, i don't think that we are different races because we all share being humans. The article stated "Later, Obama told the Ethiopian prime minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, and other guests at a state dinner that Lucy is a reminder that the world’s people are part of the same human family." this shows that we can all have the same ancestors . I believe that we don't have different races we just grew up in different places with different backgrounds. I believe that culture plays more of a role when it comes to defining people. Many people have different opinions on subjects but i think it all has to do with the way you were taught. In conclusion i think no race doesn't exist but society makes it exist because it the only way people know how to define themselves and the way they feel accepted.

No, I do not think that there are different races of people. I think that we all come from the same place or the same woman and that makes us all the same. Evidence from the text is that it says that the oldest fossil comes from East Africa. " All modern humans living today are descended from people who once lived in East Africa. (The oldest modern human fossils come from Omo Kibish in Ethiopia". Every single human on earth has a least one shared ancestor. That ancestor is the birth of humans, Lucy. We all have genes, just slightly different from one another. If you do an ancestery test for all humans, it would always trace back to Africa because we are all part African no matter what you look like. In the article "Obama Meets Lucy" it states, " Lucy is the most complete skeleton of an early human ancestor ever discovered."

The evidence from both articles goes to show that all humans descended from one part of the world, Ethiopia. In the article If Race is a Social Construct [...], they talk about genetic drift and how that affects the color of our skin. "... there is no single physical trait or gene that can be used to unambiguously assign people to racial groups". If we all originated from Ethiopia then the different physical features came from groups leaving Africa with a different set of genes. Obama stated, “we are reminded that Ethiopians, Americans, all the people of the world are part of the same human family, the same chain". We all came from the same place so race is something that was made up for someone who looks different.

We categorize ourselves in groups with people who look like us and classify it as our race. It is further than that and it should mean where we originally originated from. “The majority of Americans still operate on the assumption that there are legitimate biological races within the human species, and that these racial categories align with physical features—aka, the way that race is socially defined in the United States.’’I don't think that there are different races of people because we've used what we looked like to determine that.

I do not believe there are different races of people. While reading the article about race and dna they mentioned that lots of people make assumptions and say things about race based on what they were taught growing up. None of us were here to witness the evolution of man therefore I believe that no one really has the authority to make assumptions about race unless they have really done their research and are very knowledgeable about the topic. I feel like the term race was created to make it easier to identity people that look different from each other. In the article, "Obama meets Lucy", it is shown that we all come from one common ancestor in Ethiopia, so how would it be possible to have all of these different races today. Sure people could have moved around the world and developed different features based on where they were located but at the end of the day if you look past the skin we all look the same on the inside because we're all human.

No, I do not believe that there are different races of people. We are all human beings and that alone makes us connected. Like it said in the article If Race is a Social Construct, “It (race) affects how we think about virtually every aspect of our society and culture—and yet we struggle to talk about or even define it.” I feel as though if we fail to have a solid definition for a word that has now been around for centuries, then it is more of an idea than it is anything else. The term ‘race’ has been used to divide society. We have been taught and trained in a way to think that we are apart of a certain race. We even assign ourselves to that race because of what we look like. In the article Obama Meets Lucy it says, “we are reminded that Ethiopians, Americans, all the people of the world are part of the same human family, the same chain.” I do believe that we all came and evolved from one ancestor in Ethiopia.

No, I do not believe there are different races of people. After reading these articles, I learned that many people think that race is related to your physical features, which is not true. Although everyone looks different and has different features, everyone has something in common with each other, and this is found true in the article "Obama meets Lucy." The author claims “we are reminded that Ethiopians, Americans, all the people of the world are part of the same human family, the same chain." This explains that all humans are related in some way and we all started from one person. In the second article, "If Race is a Social Construct [...]" the author states "We’ve determined that “biological races” in the human species do not exist." This means that people automatically put others into socially defined groups based on their characteristics, and they call these groups your "race."

I do not believe race is real because if we look at the two different definitions of race we can see that 1. In biological race they categorize groups of people based on features, geographical background or even our gene lineages. In the article, Race = DNA, it states “Biological race exists within some species. This is why we know they do not exist within our species, modern humans“ this proves that humans can not be broken down into more species because we are only one, human. The other type of race people try and categorize groups is are social race. These things are more on the line of a combination of physical traits, language, religious beliefs, and a list of cultural features. In the article it also states that “ social definitions of race different depending on Contacts and always operate in the service of social dominance hierarchies”. This provides evidence that socially based race is a thing made up by people that control the power to keep them higher up on the food chain. Additionally, I believe that race can not be real is because we all descendants from the same place, Africa, to be even more specific, Ethiopia, to back up my claim in the article “ Obama meets Lucy, ‘the grandmother of humanity’, during Ethiopians visit, it states “we are minded the Ethiopians, Americans, all the people of the world are part of the same human family, the same gene.“ there cannot be more then one type of human when there is only one human race. In conclusion, there is no faculty based evidence that proves that race is real whether is is biological or social, it merely proves that race is a social concept of patriarchy to keep certain groups of people oppressed and to make sure certain groups of people in power.
