This term spreads in the 80’s in Milan: it comes from a typical Milanese bar called “bar al panino” in Liberty Square, where the first group of “paninari” meet each other. After that this term spread all over Italy.
This style became globally famous with the parody of "paninaro" by the comedian Enzo Braschi and with the film "Sposerò Simon Le Bon" and with the song "Paninaro" by Pet Shop Boys.
