Henry Bessemer found an inexpensive way to convert iron into steel. This was used for machines, bridges, and skyscrapers. Horatio Alger was a famous writer that wrote about people with nothing going to rags to riches.</div>]]></description>

So you would work 8 hours, 8 hours for yourself, and 8 hours for sleep. This is just one example of a law that is still in place today.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Most Interesting: Triangle Shirtwaist Fire</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The fire started on March 25, 1911. In New York City 146 workers died. There was no fire system, only 1 fire escape and the factory was overcrowded. The fire started around 4:30 pm. After, they regulated factories to have fire systems and safety codes. </div>]]></description>
