Harold Frederick Shipman was born on June 14, 1946 in Bestwood County in Nottingham, England.

He was the second of four children
And he was the favorite son of his mother, who overprotected him, restricted his social ties and instilled in him that feeling of superiority that would accompany him for the rest of his life.

Shipman was particularly attached to his mother, who died of lung cancer when he was 17 years old.

After an initial period in which Harold saw the anguish and intense physical pain of his mother at a time when there were no people to administer painkillers, he obtained a family physician who appeared with something that made the pain disappear in an open and close of eyes:MORPHINE.
