With this focus group we managed to gain valuable information regarding our film and what people like and don't like. In addition we showed them a short comedy film which uses the same style that we would like to use for our short film. . They also liked the way they didn't use any dialogue  in there film as they felt if they did add dialogue it would have ruined it. However they did not like the way they only used some shot types they felt having a range of shot types would have made it more interesting to watch so we will take this information and use it when we create our film. The focus group allowed us to gain information about what shot types appealed to our target audience . 

The first question we asked was to see which shot/angle they preferred. The best response was version 2.

We then asked what shots they like, the group said they liked all the different types of shots including the close ups because its in a close space.

We then went on to ask what style we should use in our film. They responded by saying have high angle shots and close ups as you will be able to see his facial expressions and the situation he is in.

Overall they said include as many shot types as possible as it makes it more interesting to watch.

The overall focus group and experiment was a success because we now know what interests our target audience.

For the first experiment I done I created a short scene. I edited this one quite simply and just added some music over the back of it. I believe my second was a lot more professional as I added lighting over the movie. This changes the mood and tone of the entire film and could make it seem happy or sad just by the lighting. Also I added a title half way through the film to show what the film name is called. My third and final experiment I created has lighting sound and titles implemented into it. Having all of these techniques in this experiment shows professionalism and makes it look better. In addition having the sound effects in the background also adds a new dynamic to the piece. From this focus group I concluded that our short film was a success however some people had some constructive criticism about it. Also I was given improvements on what to do next time if I was to complete a short film again. 

The first question we asked was did they enjoy watching it? The majority responded with yes but a few said that the film was quite cringe to watch. I felt when editing this, this was going to be said as watching it back I found it quite awkward. But this is what Jake want and I met his demands. However overall the feedback we got was positive.

Another question we asked was, did you find it funny? Most of the feedback we gained said that they did find it funny however in only some parts other parts they found it quite cringe to watch. This is good feedback for us as we now know not to make another film hard to watch as it puts people off watching it.

We also asked if they thought the story line was original. The majority of the people replied with yes because they have not seen a short film like that before and it was very interesting for them to watch. However they did say that the story could ave been a little bit stronger but overall was a very entertaining video.

We also asked if we used good camera angles. This was key for our film because from previous focus groups we did they said use a range of shot types which we tried to do. The feedback we got was very successful as they said that the shot types were excellent and said it made it look even more professional.

Another question we asked, was how could you improve it? The feedback we got was to make some shots not as long as having them quite long did make watching the film quite boring only in some scenes though. So for next time we create a short film to not prolong some of the shots as it makes it quite boring for some people to watch.

Another question we asked was, was the film edited well. And me being the editor I hoped for some good feedback and also wanted some constructive criticism so I can better myself for next time. The overall feedback was very positive and they felt it was very well edited. They felt the transitions were very well done and thew overall film flowed very well.However they did say some of the audio could have been better as I did try to turn up the audio whilst editing but could do it to much or it would sound unprofessional. So for next time I will let my director know we need a tascam for audio as this will make it sound a lot better than it originally was. In addition they said if you cannot get a tascam use sub titles on the screen just to make it clear what the actors are saying.

Overall the feedback we gained from this focus group was overall positive and they thought it was a very professional film and was well edited.
