The teacher should not just sit back, but should engage the students to cover topics in this way. It allows for people that share two languages or more to discuss different ideas and problem solve. This isn't possible in a classroom setting without the support from the teacher, if they believe that Emergent Bilinguals should only speak in one language or the other then the use of translanguging will die there.
