He is being effective with this by showing that they are power full but it gets seen to late. and is only noticed in tales.-seth

He uses rhetoric language to highlight how white people treated the black community unfairly. For example, "He simply wishes to make it possible for a man to be both Negro and an American, without being cursed and spit upon by his fellows, without having the doors of opportunity closed roughly in his face." Which just comes to show because they look different they're also treated different, as if they were less than.

Du Bois uses rhetoric language in this passage to help advance his point that african americans are being treated unequally. This language also helps us see how they felt. "Through history, the powers of single black men flash here and there like falling stars, and die sometimes before the world has rightly gauged their brightness." In this quote Du BOis uses rhetorical language to illustrate how black people have such power, intelligence but because they are black they are given no opportunity and then their talents went to waste just like bright stars that at die off before they are truly seen and understood. In paragraph 3 he writes, "One ever feels his twoness,—an American, a Negro; two souls, two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings; two warring ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder." From this we can infer that the author wanted to tell us that black people feel like they have 2 people fighting inside them. They have the black person seen as a problem by the whites, this makes them loose hope and feel insignificant, and then in the other hand the black person they see themselves as a person who can succeed and this give them hope. However, since they are brought down all the time they are constantly fighting this though of who they are.

Du Bois uses rhetoric in the passage to help us readers know more about why African American were treated unequally during this time and how they felt as well. In the text, Du Bois compares the black people to "falling stars" that flash here and there. This is suggesting that people only look over black people's powers and don't accept that they have true powers and can be treated the same way as whites. Also that no matter what their beliefs are or what color they are they still are human and have many talents like us.

Du bois uses rhetoric to show how black people have always had the power to do things but they got overshadowed. He states in paragraph 5, “ Through history ,the powers of single black men flash here and there like falling stars, and sometimes before the world has rightly gauged their brightness”. He is saying that throughout history black folk have done glorious things but their fame is usually abrupt because of how they are thought upon. They were many black people before him that did stuff in America but it wasn’t considered to be something good.
