The underground passages are typically a secret way of getting from one point to another, and often are located under castles and important buildings. This secret lab is located under the palace of the main character and protagonist, Kuzco. This secret lab was created by Yzma, the villain, and was made to hide all of her potions and experimental plots to kill the emperor. This location is not a dungeon per say, however, as seen in the video, there is a secret torture chamber underneath with alligators. They may also appeal to the ethos of viewers as it preys on their conscience and forces people to think about them from an ethical standpoint. Underground passages may also appeal to the pathos of viewers because they create an element of suspense and make people on edge.
