We have tasked our data and research personnel to measure effectiveness of school improvement. Some pieces include what schools return after exiting, how long after, which schools do not return, etc.

Leading the district leaders (Asst. Super, Instructional Super, CSFO) in meaningful conversations around funding:

Essentially - a 'teach them how to fish' model to assist with effective program evaluation.

To what extent are the federal investments WI is leveraging through our regional continuous improvement support providers impacting federally identified districts/schools? Are our TA Network and other projects (esp those focused on improving outcomes for SWDs and students of color) resulting in districts/schools:

-selecting high-quality EBIS

In agreement with my Utah friends, we need to evaluate the LEA's effectiveness to lead school turnaround efforts, especially in the high-risk districts. We recently went through Federal Monitoring, and the focus was on what the LEA is providing the identified schools.

We are wanting to learn from schools what they consider have been best practices in their school improvement efforts (and why) and be able to share this information with other schools/LEAs.

Also wanting to create meaningful Resource Allocation Review process that will support LEA work on continuous improvement at both district and school level.

Washington uses three years of data for its accountability system (WSIF). That means the data is very lagged and schools can see changes slowly. This is an advantage and a challenge for evaluation. It becomes difficult to identify which initiatives were enacted at which point in time (overlay that challenge with turnover in leadership) we struggle to collect real time data.

Look at if the goals/strategies that LEAs/schools are implementing being based on identified needs that increase and sustain student outcomes. Are the goals/strategies what they want to work on instead of what they need to?
