There are many trades of a stagehand.

You have carpenters, electricians, video hands, prop hands, audio hands, wardrobe hands, backline hands, flyloaders, spotlight technicians, electrical technicians, and audio and visual technicians. riggers (up-riggers and down-riggers), truckloaders, forklift operators, and pushers.

A stage builder is a carpenter.

The electricians are the hands to the electrical technicians. Electricians are also called "Electrics" and "Sparkies." The sparkies run and make connections with the electrical cables also referred to "snaking." Sparkies also hang all lighting fixtures. All cables are referred to as snakes.

(Stagehand really means stage laborer. For any of the occupation titles with the word hand or hands in it, it refers to them being the laborers and assistants to the technicians.)

Technicians are responsible for the operation and maintenance of their department. They direct making connections for their equipment and repairs for their equipment of their specialty. Technicians are also called "techs" and "wizards."

Wardrobe hands do the dressing and prepping of the entertainer. Wardrobe will apply makeup, prep hair and wigs and assist with applying and dressing costumes on the entertainer.

The entertainer and entertainers is referered to as the "Entertainment" or "Talent." Rarely will a stagehand call the entertainer an actor or performer even if it is a play.

Video and audio hands assist the video and audio technicians with all things video and audio. Sometimes but not always will the Video and Audio technicians will be one person called the "AV" or "AV Tech." Video staging area is called "Video Land" or "Monitor World"

Prop hands are responsible for setting scenic props. The items which add detail to the stage scenery during a play. Prop hands are also called Props.

Flyloaders make the curtains go up and down in a theater. Actually, anything that is stored above the stage and moves in on stage. Flyloaders are flyloaders because the weight system that moves the curtains up and down is called a fly. The weights are metal blocks called bricks. Flyloaders are also called "Loaders". Generally during stage setup the stage manager is speaking to or about the flyloaders when they call out "Loaders." However there are also truckloaders or carloaders, which are also "Loaders."

Truckloaders load and unload the truck. Truckloaders stay in the truck until the truck or trucks are completely loaded or unloaded. Moving to each truck until the loading or unloading process is completed.

Pushers assist in unloading and loading the trucks. Pushers push roadcases from the truck to the stage or "floor." The loaders push the roadcases to the loader from the truck.

Forklift operators operate forklifts. Forklift operators are called "Forks." The forklift is also called a fork.

Riggers hang motors to make things move. Somewhere this process is called a rig. Therefore riggers rig. The verb is rigging. There are up-riggers and down-riggers.

Up-riggers walk the beams in the ceiling to place the motors.

Down-riggers stay on the floor to guide the up-riggers as they hoist the motors from the floor to the ceiling.

Most places in Utah, if alcohol is served in a venue such as a bar or public event alcohol consumption should only happen from served alcohol from the event vendors. No outside alcohol is permitted to be in and no alcohol is permitted to leave a place that serves alcohol.
