France sees this as an alliance with their enemy. [American <—> British ]

John Adams goes to Congress and gave a speech. In the middle of the speech, he indirectly spoke about some French officials, referred to them as X, Y, Z.

He asked Congress to appropriate funds to build the U.S Navy. [Not to start war with France, but to provide safety to American Ships going to Great Britain.]

The rest of the Adams administration is an ongoing undeclared naval conflict between United States and France called the Quasi War.

Southerners (Pro-France): Admire France, They see France Revolution as their own. Criticized Adams because he ruined peace between France.

Can you allow these people & newspapers collectively belittle and criticize adams presidency (him as a man as well) ?

The second envoy to France made the High-Federalists choose to abandon Adams in the next election, and choose Charles Pinckney.
