In this lesson we did 5 key activies. This was all based around story telling.

The first of it was too take as many squares of toliet roll as we would use. The catch was that we didn't know what the use was and this caused people to guess which wasted some of the lesson. I, personaly, took 6 peices and once we had it was told that we need to tell as many facts about us as we had pieces of paper. The most pieces of paper some people has was 9 and they struggled the most. My facts were about me being austic, colour blind, being older than someone by half an hour, me seeing a band over my birthday, I forget one of them and the last was me joking that I needed to borrow someones longer roll.

This was done to show that we all have something about us that is intresting and helps us learn who everyone is in the class (due to it being the first lesson togther).

The next task was a warm exersize called Zip, Zap, Boing. This version had been ulterd so it was based around East Enders and meant that everything was down over the top. The game was down to make everyone more awake and alert for the lesson. I hadn't played before so the rules where explained and I was removed from the game early on as I strugged to focus on the task. When two people where left they had to have a moo off, which I learn is when to people act like cows and move till one of them smiles and laughs. This warm up help wake up the class and burn off an extra enegry that would slow down the class (though it failed as the class spent too much time doing silly things).

The next task was to split into four groups of 4 (I worked with Alice, Tom and Michel) and write down in anyway what a story must contain (the image attaced is our group work). We all gave ideas to the sheet and then was told to stop writing as each group would read what they had. Some of the things on lists where; begging, middle, end, villans and heroes, story arc/mountin (hence our group's being a mountin with snow), charcater grows and devlopment and an intresting/ingaging story. This helped everyone understand what is important in a story and how to create one. In the future we can use this to plot out basic ideas for stories whilest keeping in check with what a story should be.

The task that followed after made doing this task a lot easier. The next task was to tell a story based, in a pair, on an object given to us. The pairs we worked in was also people we didn't know well, so it also helped us understand what and how they worked. In the pair we were given a feather and the story behind the feather was spilt between us. I told the start and part of the middle whilest my parnet told the rest of the middle and the end, this meant we worked equaly and allowed for a deeper story. The reason why we had a deeper story behind it was both of us added to what the other missed, an exsample I can give is my parent focused on the bird and forgot about the feather so I changed part of the middle so that it explained how the feather left the bird fixing the problem.
Once we had finished creating the story we told it to the class and was given no feedback to improve but rather what they liked about the piece. This meant if we where to do it again we could add more to what they liked or even make the parts more important. After we finished we watched others and learnt what mistakes not to make when creating the story. One group had a pencil and made the story focus around a boy rather than the object so it showed how easy it is to slip up when creating a story. If I was to go foward when creating a story I would make a plan and if something went wrong I could see were to improve it.

To summerise this lesson was about learning how to create sucessful stories and how they can be written as well as getting to learn who my class is. My strength in this lesson was being able to work under time constraits, an exsample is the bird story and how I was able to quickly fix problems in the story and work to make the story intresting. My biggest weakness is not listening to my groups and take my own lead. An exsample where it went wrong is the the bird story because I was so quickly fixing problems I was rarely listening to my parent which is something I will have to improve for the future.

Signed,
Jacob R
