He does this by giving up his lifestyle that he is so fond of and goes out to live in the woods, he lived by surviving through harsh conditions with just a handful of stuff. I personally would never do that since i am an indoor person
 He cleared his mind and became "one with nature" since he enjoyed it so much more than he would if he was rich. He left all his other problems and stress of the outside world behind and focused on himself

I also chose calvin and hobbs since i read their comics ever since i was little, i chose these specific ones because they show how and what they are thinking of and why they are.
