Family members typically arrange the majority of marriages. When choosing a mate, clan affiliation is one of the most important considerations, with some clans prevailing over others.Love at first sight may or may not be involved. The families of daughters look for a hardworking, responsible man and look for homes that can support their sons and their children.A woman's preferred union is with her maternal cousin, who is the son of her mother's brother. The arrangement is referred to as "keeping the fish in the pond" because it brings together two clans that have a history of mating and family ties.

After informing about the agreement of the woman to marry to all close relatives, there will be a meeting for the wedding arrangement. A negotiation begins with an official exchange between male leaders of the future bride and future groom's matrilineal clans as a sign the two clans are now married. During the engangement period, the groom's family gives their ancestral dagger as a premier symbol of male leadership while the bride's family gives gold in return, a symbol of female ancestral wealth. The exchange binds between the clans cause both families not to withdraw themselves before the wedding.

The resulting deal is related to wedding costs, which can be very high. The bedroom furniture that is displayed in the shared room in the bride's house during the wedding ceremony is usually paid for by the groom's family. The wedding attire is rented from the bride and groom's family. Meal preparation and wedding day entertainment costs are additional considerations. The amount to be paid to groom's family on their wedding day must also be agreed between the two families. This is known in anthropology as the groom's price. Minangkabau is her one of the few exceptional cases of a social order in which the spouse's family is reestablished instead of the wife's family. This is understandable given that Minangkabau's husband has moved into her wife's house to work.

Polygamy is allowed with the consent of the first wife, but is very rare and usually results in divorce. The village population is divided into nobles (a-menteri), commoners (abumi), and slaves (a-dipen). Ideally, the marriage should be with a second cousin within the same rank (Patriot's maternal side). However, in smaller, politically independent communities, the need for talent has always favored interracial marriage. The bride's father is allowed to secretly choose the bride's fortune and daughter's desired rank in any family line. A wedding is the most important public event where upward or downward liquidity is recognized and validated. In theory, all first marriages are arranged by the parents, but the wishes of the proposed partner are usually taken into account.Parents do not arrange second marriages. In the post-marriage period, local housing in Uxori is ideal, but financial advantages often trump ideals. One youngest child usually stays with a guardian is expected. Divorce is by mutual consent and property acquired after marriage is divided equally.

The purpose of the "merisik" and "meninjau" customs is, first, to determine whether the soon-to-be spouse is truly single and not in someone else's fiancee, and second, to examine each spouse's entire history.Similar to the Javanese custom, it is essential to examine each spouse's bibit (which refers to their genealogy), bebet (which refers to their family, relatives, and friends), and bobot (which refers to their faith, personal life, lifestyle, and educational background). This is on the grounds that a blemish riage is supposed to be timeless until kaken-ninen (being fabulous guardians) and can be sakînah mawaddah warahmah.Nontoni provides couples and families with the opportunity to learn about one another's history in Javanese. In this context, family participation is essential to every wedding procession, particularly in the Selangor and Java traditions of "merisik," "meninjau," and "nontoni."The term "nyumbang" refers to a financial contribution made to the wedding host.According to modern Javanese custom, the donation is money.Donations are given directly to the bride's parents in Selangor's Javanese ethnic wedding traditions. In Selangor, the Javanese wedding also has a custom known as leklekan, in which relatives and neighbors don't sleep all night as part of the wedding tradition. It is evident from the Java language's use of the term "leklekan".The Javanese ethnic community in Selangor continues to steadfastly uphold the custom of "kenduri" with nasiambang, or Javanese food, on wedding traditions as well as other significant life events like birth, marriage, and death.During the celebration (kenduri), nasi ambang is served and quartered after prayers for safety are recited. After that, guests take the rice home, which is called berkat. The "'aqd al-nikâh" procession (the marriage contract) and the wedding reception are the main parts of the wedding ceremony. The father must be the "wali" of his daughter for the Javanese ethnic community in Selangor, and the qâdlî (religious official) is leading the procession. However, those Javanese who do not come from a religious family typically delegate their role as "wali" to the marriage official (naib) or "kiai."They also have a reception known as temu manten that includes not only the banquet but also a series of events, the host's speech, and "khutbahnikah" (marriage advice).Catering service and a waiter are involved in the reception banquet. In addition to the standard dish for a reception, the host also orders grilled lamb for guests at the reception. In a variety of wedding series, they typically slaughter the cow or buffalo by themselves for the banquet.

The courtship: The Bidayuh are essentially an agrarian society in which the majority of their activities at the kampongs revolve around farming, and numerous festivals are associated with these activities.Young people often get to know one another by working together on the farm (called pingiris). When a young man is interested in another young woman, he develops a relationship through the tradition known as "maasu" among the Bidayuhs of Serian. They fall in love over time.Maasu literally translates to "nighttime visit" a girl.In the traditional way, it is a decent way to start a relationship between a young man and a woman.

The maasu or mewah is always performed at night, typically following dinner, and in the presence of the girl's parents and other family members. However, the young man can stay up with the young lady until the family goes to bed.The young man would be respectfully advised to keep away from their daughter if the young lady's parents object to the maasu or mewah. However, he is taken to the Tua Kampong if he continues to visit or violates the custom. The young man is then required to make a restitution known as takud if it is determined that he has broken the adat.

The Proposal: After a series of visits, the girl indicates that she is ready to marry the man, and he is pleased with her attitude, and the young man asks his parents for advice. agree, they appoint a person to act as an intermediary. Most often intelligent uncles or close relatives who seek out the young woman's parents to see if they agree. The daughter's consent accepts the young man's proposal. Applies to persons under the age of 21. Women or men who have reached the age of 21 do not need parental permission. Nevertheless, out of respect for both parents and adat, a couple should tell her parents if they want to get married. When the mediator goes to the girl's home, his job is not only to find out if the family accepts the proposal, but also to negotiate other related issues. He can begin by outlining the boy's humble family background and the young man's family tree. The reason for this is that he confirms that the two are not closely related. According to Bidayuh Adat, it is taboo to marry a close relative. The mediator also asks the girl's parents if they agree to let her daughter (nyusu or tunda) live with the male family. If the girl's parents answer affirmatively, the mediator informs the boy's parents. He then returns home as soon as possible to avoid hearing or noticing any bad omens near the house. If nothing happened on the way back, the broker can judge that the mission was successful. The next evening he brings the good news to the young man and his parents. If the girl's parents' answer is negative and the young's parents are not satisfied with the answer, they either abandon the mission or have the broker renegotiate. In some cases, a new mediator may be appointed and sent a second time. If he fails to accomplish his mission, the entire proposal idea should be abandoned. However, there is still hope for the loving couple. If the girl's parents reject the marriage proposal and both the young man and the girl insist on marriage, their only option is to flee. It is also rare.

The engagement: If the proposal is accepted, the parents' of the man will ask the go-between to send engagement gifts to the girl's family as a sign of engagement. The gifts are a black sarong (jamuh singot), a gold ring, some cash. Sirih leaves (duon biid) and areca nuts (bua bai) that are hand-picked by the future groom also included and nicely bundled (merun) according to the adat. During one night, after one week or two weeks of sending go-between, the groom's family proceed to the future bride's house and have to prevent from stepping on pigis dung or ants. Then, music instruments will be played to avoid hearing sounds of bad omen from kusah or kriak ,besides, yellow rice (beras siya) will be sprinkled to welcome the future groom's arrival . They are taken to the verandah and the couple will sit down next to their parents. When they are all seated, both families will give speeches and it will give as a symbol of engagement, after that, any breach of adat concerning engagement will make on of the party guilty and have to provide a restitution to the aggrieved party. The engagement should not exceed a year and if they want to extend the engagement period, they must inform the headman.

The wedding will be held depending on the wedding capabilities of the economic family. In the Bidayuh community, the choice of post-marriage residence depends on many factors. The decisive factor is the financial situation of the couple. Husband and wife can stabilize their married life and sit at home. Dayak Selako forbids excessive contact between free men and women. Marriage can be "forced" through a practice known as "batang cup". This is a practice partner if you can bring unmarried men and women who are too closed off on a regular basis to the village chief to take action. , I heard that the relationship as husband and wife can be confirmed with a small ceremony. Another way of marriage is by 'nyagam', in which the husband-to-be gives a mat and pillow to the wife-to-be.Usually a man chooses to marry a widow. According to the Serako, Lara and Jagoi, a perfect marriage is one that requires knowledge, roles and planning by the parents. Marriage may also include the role of an intermediary, known as a picara of the Serako tribe who represents the male. Once all parties agree, an appropriate date and time will be determined.

It has a butterfly-shaped collar that is embellished with manik-manik or strands of small beads. The skirt is called a hoos or siyal, and the sash is called a sablay. She might also wear curved brassfingercaps or salingkuku and a jabbang (crown) headdress, as in the bridal costume. The narrow-legged tinanjak costume, which features batawi or gold buttons, antuwilas, or gold lace, and manik beading on the black top and trousers, can be worn by male dancers. The porong headcloth and kandit belt may be made of the same materials as the ritual costume. The virtuosity of the dancer and his or her slow, skillful interaction with the fast music of the tagunggu' ensemble in Igal performed in non-ritual social gatherings in the village are demonstrated.

These Bajau Sama mainly settled around Putatan, Tuaran, Kota Mardu, Kota Belud and Papar while the Bajau lived on the east coast of Sabah near Kudat, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna and Tawau. The Kota Belud and Tuaran Bajau Sama, known as the 'Oriental Cowboys', are skilled and capable horsemen, while the East Coast Sabah Bajau are known as the 'Gypsies of the Sea' for their swimming and diving skills and knowledge.

The curved "buffalo horn" architecture with its pointed roof is the most distinctive feature of the Minangkabau, or victorious buffalo people, of Malacca's northern neighbor Negri Sembilan. It shows up everywhere. Whether it's the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur, a luxury hotel lined with palm trees, or a gas station on the highway. The roof is not only a symbol of Minangkabau, but also of Malaysia.
It is a proud tribute to the legacy of a group of West Sumatran settlers who were drawn to the port's success and settled in the fertile valleys and hills behind Malacca. They brought their own style of architecture and, while protected by the Malay Sultanate, continued to adhere to their own Adathi Pepati practices, following a matrilineal system that governed laws, political organization, traditions and social institutions. The small principalities established by the first settlers formed nine luwaks or provinces that became the Negeri Sembilan Federation. Today, the modern nation is divided into districts, but the Ruwak tribe has survived. Violent clashes over tinplate led to British intervention in the 18th century, reducing the number of luwaks to five.

Plate dance, also known as Piriang dance (in Minangkabau), is a Minangkabau dance art still practiced by residents of Negeri Sembilan. However, nothing is known exactly about the origin history of this plate dance. However, it is believed to have existed in the Malay Islands for over 800 years. This dance is considered to be established in West Sumatra, or better known as Minangkabau, and developed until the Srivijaya period.

Since then, the plate dance has been accepted as part of the traditional rituals of weddings, including the communal marriage of Negeri Sembilan. The Piring dance plays a large role in the wedding customs of the Malay community of Negeri Sembilan. Initially, plate dancing at weddings was just entertainment.

'Rejang Beuh' Dance
This dance is typically performed as a form of entertainment for longhouse guests following the harvest season. The dancers' outstretched arm movements resemble those of eagles as they flap their wings in flight. Two male dancers typically perform rejang beuh in the Biatah dialect, Langiin Bukar-Sadung, Bitagi Tigal, or Sigar Bouh in Bau-Jagoi.Madu Sawan, a legendary hero from Bidayuh, was given the order by the King of the Pleiades to fight the legendary bird of the sky known as Tingkilang langu Ramang (The Eagle Spirit) in this dance. This is to guarantee that he will be permitted to marry Dara Buda, the king's daughter.

Ramang's advanced stage both dancers achieved. They began to dance from each end of the portico, moving gracefully towards each other in various styles and motions, following the slow and steady beating and rhythm of gongs and drums. Every time when they meet, they strike in a quick motion as if they attack each other in a fight. In each of the moving encounters, invisible venomous snakes and insects will emerge from Seizure Honey's pockets and attack Ramang's advanced Tinggilang until he falls unconscious. Therefore, in the fight, Tingkilang further Ramang is lost and Madu Sawan is declared the rightful husband of Dara Buda.
