Yes because i feel like the things that were took from countries could someway impact them because some things symbolizes there countries. Museums doesn't really see the value of a merchandise from another countries and what it has to give to other around them, all the believe is the piece might be worth something in a few years or maybe even decades.

yes I feel like countries should get their artifacts from museums if they wanted to. first of all, these artifacts were probably stolen in a whole different era... times have changed since then. Secondly the items could mean something or could be very valuable to the country, the artifacts may be enriched if it is returned to its country of origin. But, I just feel like if it does not belong to you. don't touch it. or try to make money off of it.

Museums should be required to give back stolen artifacts to the countries they actually belong to. Most artifacts that were brought into another country had been stolen from people in power and that was centuries ago. The original countries sign and fight for these important artifacts to return to their country, but get rejected. These items that have been stolen are deeply rooted with history and stories that should be shared and displayed in the original country. I understand where it might be a process to ship certain valuables back, but it should happen. If countries are requesting and fighting for what naturally belongs to them they should every right to receive it.

Yes, I feel like museums should give back stolen merchandise because it’s not rightfully theirs. If the county that the artifacts originally came from wants them back, museums should be required to return them especially if they were stolen from the country and not given to them. I also feel like if an artifact was stolen from a county a long time ago and ended up in a museum they should at least offer the country some money in order to keep it or just return it if the country wants them back. The only way i feel like a museum should be able to keep an artifact is if it was found while they had permission to search for stuff or if the artifact was given to them or sold to them.

This question is one of many different perspectives. The values and morals of the person comes into play. For example, a survival of the fittest mentality and an equalist mentality would surely differ. As for myself I believe its a variable. Like how was the originally item made. Was it acquired through slave labor or stolen resources. All of these questions aswell as many more need to be answered before one can give a definite blanket answer. However generally speaking I do believe stolen items should be returned.87 As I am assuming that the items referenced have some deep rooted historical or religious connection. I firmly believe that being the case it would be only right, having these items back on display could ease the pain if only slightly of a lot of natives.

I don’t believe museums should take artifacts from the countries they belong to. I feel like it is taking away their culture and half the time it is the white people that stole it.. They put it out for display and get paid for it so I don’t think it is fair for the country that it originated from. The UK Museum had no right to decline Ethiopia’s request. According to The Guardian, Ethiopia lodged a formal restitution claim in 2007 for the return of hundreds of manuscripts and artifacts being held by a number of British institutions. The artifacts were stolen after the 1868 capture of Maqdala, the capital of Emperor Tewodros II in what was then Abyssinia. The fact that it was even stolen in the first place and they still declined don’t sit right to me.
