Yes, I believe that today mental illnesses are often glorified and made into something they're not. In my opinion, I think today's society tries to make out mental illness to be "beautiful" which causes some people to "want" to have mental illness. Due to this misrepresentation, the definition also becomes skewed and causes people to also be uneducated on this topic.
I also think people often do not take the feelings of those with mental illness into thought. Its common to hear, especially with high school students, that they say "oh my god I want to kill myself" or "if that happened I would've killed myself" when the smallest problem happens. When in reality, they are just saying it without thinking and not realizing that people with mental illness may actually struggle with thoughts of suicide.

Yes, satire is an effective way to address many concerns in society that may be touchy subjects. Satire brings attention to this topic and also may dive a little deeper into the personal feelings of those who have mental illness, as showed in the cartoon artifact.

I believe mockery has the greatest impact with this issue as attention is brought to this issue in the wrong way, and also because mockery was used multiple times in this project. In the first artifact, Mental Health Services mocks its own issue, telling others to "just cheer up." I have heard this outside the context of mental illness and it annoyed me, so I can only imagine how much people who actually have mental illnesses hear it and may become frustrated.
