Since its inception in 2012, under the Obama administration the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has permitted individuals who entered the United States as children and meet specific criteria to apply for deferred action (temporary stays and work authorization) for two years. However under the Trump administration DACA has been rescinded until further notice.

In the historic Plyler v Doe Supreme Court case a ruling was passed down requiring education for students in grades K-12, regardless of immigration status. Rescinding DACA would be in direct violation of the ruling should be student be deported. Thus creating serious implications for educators across the country.

While nearing the completion of the bachelors portion of the program, due to the recent rescinding of DACA; the student wanted to change his major and graduate sooner because he is unsure of where he will be in the months to come.
