It showed the persistence and resilience he had, not even losing hope in finding his family and surviving Sudan's Civil War. Also another world issue is the problem of young girls, like Nya, having to walk many hours a day just to get water for her and her family, instead of getting an education. This book promotes solutions to problems that happen everyday that people do not even notice.
