Why are they having a hearing for bail if they won't even let him contact anyone for help?

Question: 

Is it not strange that he finds faith within another religion, when trying to contact Kathy? But is this passage not displaying that you can find hope or faith in many places/people?

Question #2 Declan: Yes, he was pointing out a stereotype that at the time in that situation happened to be right. But it could also be that they were being profiled just like Zeitoun was. 
Question #3 Brittany: He wasn't more persistant to get help even though he was in alot of pain because he knew they wouldn't help. They believed he was a terrorist or profiled him to be one, so to them he isn't worth helping. He is why 9.11 happened. He knows that no matter what he will be in pain or dead.
