My full name is Sir Alexander Tilloch Galt. I was born in Chelsea, England. My father; John Galt founded a settlement company in the area of Lake Huron, he was very successful! I strove to becoming like him and I achieved that goal. In 1835, I emigrated to Canada so I could work for the British American Land Co. This company was created by my father in 1834...But as the company grew the more my father had to pay to the government, therefore he had passed it on to me. In 1843 I was declared the secretary of the British American Land Company by the London office and, in 1844, I was named commissioner. Later in the years around 1853 I got interested about politics. In 1858, Governor General Edmund Walker Head asked me to form a new goverment, but I politely declined, instead I became the inspector general. After that I thought I would be the inspector general for my entire life, but I was wrong about that. Prime Minister Macdonald stated that I had the position of finance minister in the first Cabinet of the Canadian Government. This position was only available to me for a year. In 1867 because the Commercial Bank of Kingston was going bankrupt, becuase of this, I was forced to resign. Unfortunately, I left politics for good in 1872 because of my disagreement with the number of government politics. I'm happy I made that decision becuase now I am living with my son Elliot, and I will always remember my wife in my heart. Even though I chronic health problems at the moment, I cherish every moment I have lived and have no regrets.
