The PLP grade is their grade after week 3. I have found adding other grades inflates.

I let them know where they are and where they need to be. They know that if they finish early they have study hall. Or, they can have academic support.

Grading system actually varies depending upon course (electives are different compared to say an English class)

It is offered on PLP. I only use the normal 'bright thinkers'

It would be nice if the program could include redos if the grades are lower than 70% instead of us doing it manually. Or if the program could automatically slow students down if they are spending less than X amount of time per assignment.

Credit Recovery is the main purpose of PLP (along with course scheduling options, of course)

Grading is based on CBE, but I also add a grade for notes and Lesson Tracking.

I am trying to change the %'s, lower % for lessons, up for projects, Practice Tests, quizzes, and Final exams. Students are learning that projects and practice tests are not hurt their grades, so I want them to start caring.

Collectively cell phones are not a problem within our CBE classes at Sun Valley. Individually you're always going to run into an issue or two, but again not generally speaking.

Weekly progress trackers, which get stamped every Thursday along with their notes. This way they take responsibility and have a visual where they stand. Also, I have been meeting with my students on a individual basis.

No intentional brain breaks. I do allow students to take their breaks when they are ready. Some play chess, sometimes we will do a class discussion about random topics.

Cell phones will always be a problem. I took the suggestion from Mr. Harris at Maya, and I let them pick a playlist on their phone, put one headphone in, and then I collect their phones for the class period.

We are now dealing with students using ChatGPT, googling answers, using course hero.

I contact parents on Friday if students are behind. I remind the students everyday to check progress. Students are to complete 16 lessons a week. Unless they have an IEP.

We use Credit Recovery for students who have previously taken the class. Hence the "credit recovery".
