Many of my students say that America is hard. They were not prepared for how difficult it is to navigate the daily life here. In the old country, the myth is that life is easy here. They are shocked when they see how many people are homeless in our country.

I have been teaching the difference between "city / Tucson" and "state/ Arizona" in my AER classroom.
