Part one:

1) Ben Wolf is an 18 year old who has a lot planned for his last year of highschool. Before he knew it he had been told he only had one year to live due to an illness. The doctor offers treatment, but he refuses and will not tell anyone about this terrible news. He is not going to take it easy instead he is determined to enjoy the rest of his time doing as much as he can. Ben is not going to let anything stop him. He trys out for the football team even though he is small, he helps others in his town, and decides to take a chance at talking to Dallas the girl he has had a major crush on. Things begin to fall a part.. Does he live or die? That is for you to find out. I enjoyed the book a lot, it has a lot of unexpected turns which keep you reading. This book was definitely a great read and was powerful. The authors style of writing was fantastic and it was definitely realistic. I honestly had a lot of thoughts throughout this book. It holds a strong message within it and I definitely campared life with Bens life.

2) Someone elses review: "Deadline" is a story about a high school senior named Ben who has one year left to live. The story is about how he decides to spend his last year. He is 18 years old so he legally doesn't have to tell anyone and that's what he decides to do, for the most part. Ben has ran cross country for the past three years of his high school career but decides to change it up this year and be on the football team with his brother. He goes out for the most attractive girl in his eyes who is Dallas. Ben also thinks since it's not only his last year in high school, but he last year alive, why not mess with his teachers a little bit. He gives his history teacher a very interesting year. This story shows how important life is and how little time we actually have.
This book is for anyone who enjoys books being written like hearing someone talk. The story is written in a very casual way which makes it easier to relate to and understand. This book made me really think what I would do with my life if I only had a year to live and I knew it and to not take everything for granted because life is too short. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to compare their life to the character in the book and to someone who likes an easy read with a deep message.
I honestly do agree with this person and what they are saying. I did the exact same thing they did which was it had me really thinking what I would do and to not take things for granted.

Part two:

1) Chris Crutcher really related this book to some real life issues. The major conflict is that the main character Ben Wolf has unexpected turn for the worst. He is diagnosed with an illness and has only a year to live. Trying to keep his diagnosis hidden from everyone is a hard thing to do and he ends up not being able to. Trying out for the football team, approaching the girl he really likes, and helping others are all some real life things. Facing the fact of death and leaving loved ones could be another one. The author is trying to say that you need to be happy and do what you can in life, and do not always hide things that are serious from loved ones. Ben's unexpected turn in his life and having one year to live due to an illness is something that could happen. There is a theme that goes with it which is "Take as many chance in life as you can and live life to the fullest before you cant." Meaning do as much things as you can before you die, because you will one day and no one ever knows. Something unexpected could happen at any given moment. Never let anything hold you back from what you want. I believe this, because you live everyday not knowing what will happen you cant worry about it. You just have to live life and do the things you want, because you can be fine one day and then the next you can be dying. This really had me thinking what I would do with my life if I was given only a year to live. Think about it would you take every day and make the most out of it or what would you do?

2) This article is about Tara Ernske a women who always lived life to the fullest, very talkative, and enjoying life. Then in 2014 her life had an unexpected turn around. She was starting her new career, balancing her family and friends while just living life doing as much as she can. She was at her yearly exam when she got the terrible news from her doctor. Age 30 she is diagnosed with cancer, but that will not stop her. She gets the treatment she needs and does not give up with the help of her family and friends. She is now taking what happened to her and sharing it with others to try to help them want to live life to the fullest. Tara says, "You don’t know what tomorrow’s going to bring, you have no idea what is going to happen next week next month next year. So do what you want to do now." I chose this article because I felt that it has the same theme as the book I read. They both end up being diagnosed with an illness unexpectedly. They had both been doing fine and did not know that they even had anything wrong. The point of the book and the article is that you really do not know what any day holds for you and you want to live life to the fullest. Tara could not have said it any better and Chris Crutcher could not have shown it any better in the book "Deadline". This definitely has a strong connection to each other.
