Sentence:

"It had been no idle threat, but a solemn promise"

I chose this sentence because it show that the main character of the book never would've threatened someone intentionally, he is soft towards people and pure hearted.

Phrase:

"'I'm never going to call again'"

I chose this phrase because this highlights how the character does not want to harm other organisms even if he was to try to survive by himself and not live with people who want to harm. Showing his dedication and persistence.

Word

"undecided"

I chose this phrase because it links to the character.

How does the author describe the setting or world in which the story takes place?

Throughout the book the author has described through the people that are left. Most of them seem to be aggressive and defensive showing that the world has changed a lot to defend things that will help them survive. Showing that this is a world where they have to defend for their life. As well as the descriptions we get when ben is crossing states to Sydney describing the run down cities and more.

From a person at the start of the book who was a hypocrite he is now more understanding and stands up for himself and other more like more courage. This is shown when he stands up for Ellie even if Infront of a really big strong old man.
