Kino wants more money from the pearl than he really needs, because once he found the pearl he dreamt of all the things he could have. Kino becomes greedy and does not accept that he might not be able to have nice things in life. Instead, Kino wants to go to the big city to sell the pearl, a journey which could be very dangerous for Juana and Coyotito.

The pearl buyers/pearl buyer are being greedy by trying to cheat Kino on the price of the pearl. They bring the price down to an unreasonably low price, when they should buy it from Kino for a price around 75% to 90% of what they will sell the pearl for in the big city. Because Kino did not want the offer the pearl buyers gave him, the pearl buyers are partly responsible for anything that happens to Coyotito during the journey to the big city.

Pearl Buyers: The pearl buyers want as much money in their salary as possible, not actually caring about the value of the pearl, they give an underpriced price to the pearls. They only care about themselves and how much money they get, making business unfair.
